#'Opposition Using Nation's Name As Tool To Gain Power': BJP Writes To EC Against Renaming UPA As India

The Bhartiya Janata Party has written a letter to the Election Commission of India against the renaming of UPA to INDIA, which is short for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

BJP leader and advocate Ashutosh Dubey said that the erstwhile United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has renamed itself to India to “use the name of our nation as a mere tool to gain power.”

Yesterday, leaders from 26 opposition parties held a pivotal meeting in Bengaluru where they officially rebranded themselves as “INDIA”.

#Assam CM Himanta Sarma Changes India To BHARAT In Twitter Bio, Congress Says 'Both Beyond Your Understanding'

The ruling dispensation of the BJP-led NDA government and the united opposition have again come face to face after the leaders of various parties decided to call the opposition alliance INDIA. Now, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate late Tuesday night joked over the Twitter bio of BJP leader and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. After the NDA parties' meet in Delhi, CM Sarma changed his Twitter bio from 'Chief Minister of Assam, India' to 'Chief Minister of Assam, BHARAT'. He also tweeted that our civilisational conflict is pivoted around India and Bharat, adding that the British named our country India.

"We must strive to free ourselves from colonial legacies. Our forefathers fought for Bharat, and we will continue to work for Bharat. BJP for BHARAT," Sarma said in the tweet.

#Mumbai Local Train Services Hit As Tracks Flooded After Heavy Rain

Waterlogging in Maharashtra's Thane has caused local train services to come to a halt between the Badlapur and Ambernath section on Wednesday. Mumbai and Thane received heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning which led to flooding on the railway tracks. Following this, Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Dr Shivraj Manaspure said, "Badlapur-Ambernath section (UP + DOWN) closed from 11.05 hrs for traffic due to water-logging," as reported by news agency PTI.

Railway tracks between Badlapur and Ambernath stations got flooded at around 10:30 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the train services on the Panvel-Belapur Harbour Line route which were earlier affected which led to "point failure" (A fault with the movable pieces of the track or their operating equipment that enable trains to change tracks) at Panvel at 9.40 am were restored by 10 am, Manaspure said, as per PTI..

#Congress Chief Kharge Reveals The Plan, Who Will Lead India Against NDA

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said opposition alliance INDIA would form an 11-member committee to appoint a convener of the grouping. The committee would hold a meeting soon in Mumbai, he added.

"We will be constituting an 11-member coordination committee. The committee will hold a meeting to decide who will be the convenor. The meeting will be held in Mumbai," Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said while addressing a joint press conference after a meeting of 26 opposition parties in Bengaluru.

#Yamuna Water Level Further Recedes Amid Fresh Showers In Delhi

The water level of Yamuna continues to decrease in Delhi as it dropped to 205.46 metres at 3pm on Tuesday from 206.01 metres around midnight. The river, however, continues to flow above the danger mark amid fresh spells of rain in the city and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The rainfall battered several parts of Delhi on Tuesday as it continued to grapple with a flood-like situation. Lajpat Nagar, East of Kailash area in south Delhi, and parts of central Delhi including the Delhi Secretariat area, among other areas, received rainfall.
