An AAP leader said there was no use in attending meetings of the Opposition bloc INDIA since the Congress has decided not to form an alliance with them.

With an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders from Delhi held a meeting with the party's top leadership on Wednesday to review its Delhi unit's poll preparedness.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud was on Tuesday seen among the guests at the Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 77th Independence Day.

Highlighting the importance of regional languages, the Prime Minister, at the event, thanked the Supreme Court for a key decision that would make it easy to read court orders.

"I want to thank the Supreme Court that now the operative part of its judgments will be available in one's mother tongue. The significance of regional languages is increasing," PM Modi said at the Red Fort.

#Govt Saved Rs 2.73 Lakh Crore In Last 9 Years With DBT Sending Money To Beneficiaries: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

The government has saved Rs 2.73 lakh crore of taxpayers' money in the past nine years by adopting Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to send money to beneficiaries and weeding out bogus accounts, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday. Talking at an event, she said with DBT in place, pension, money for work, interest subvention and LPG gas subsidy transfer are being credited to Aadhaar-verified bank accounts of deserving beneficiaries, reported PTI. 

Speaking at an event organised by NGO Disha Bharat, Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Efficiency in governance in the last nine years has improved the possibilities for more money available for, let us say, education and health because we adopted DBT. Since 2014, by gradually increasing the number of schemes under DBT, we have saved Rs 2.73 lakh crore... this money is now being used for very many programmes. "

The viral post uses the image of CJI Chandrachud with a false quote that states that the Chief Justice urged the people of India to come put in protest against the government.
