#PM Modi Degree Row: SC Junks Arvind Kejriwal's Plea Challenging Gujarat HC Order In Defamation Case

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to grant relief to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal as the apex court junked his plea challenging the high court order which had refused to stay the trial in the criminal defamation case filed against him and party colleague Sanjay Singh by the Gujarat University over their alleged remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's educational qualifications.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti said it is not issuing notice on the plea as the matter is pending before the Gujarat High Court and is listed for hearing on August 29. The bench said the Gujarat University and Kejriwal can raise their grievances before the high court.

Chhattisgarh: ED Gets 6-Day Remand Of 4 Accused In Mahadev Betting App Case

Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths got a remand of six days against four accused linked with online illegal Mahadev betting app related to hawala operations on Thursday. These accused include one assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Chhattisgarh police, along with three hawala operators under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002 in the ongoing money laundering investigation related to online.

ASI Chandrabhushan Verma of Chhattisgarh Police, along with Satish Chandrakar, Hawala operators Anil & Sunil Dammani arrested under the provisions of PMLA 2002 in the ongoing money laundering investigation related to the Mahadev Online Book APP case, were produced before the Hon’ble PMLA Special Court of Raipur.

Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday criticised the PM Modi government, claiming that its actions are undermining the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Kharge took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an image of the 'RTI' acronym being buried beneath a hammer imprinted with a saffron Lotus symbol. His tweet accompanied the image with a caption that read, "This is not just an attack on the constitutional right, but another step in the conspiracy to end democracy. The disappearance of thousands of applications from the RTI website is only a superficial incident, the internal destruction is deeper."
