#ISRO: 'India could take 20-30 years to send humans to Moon'

Director of Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad, Nilesh Desai, on Friday, said that India could take at least two to three decades to send manned missions to the Moon. The statement comes days after India landed Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar south polar region.

"We could send a manned mission, America and Russia have already done it. But India will take some time because we don't just need to send a man, but bring him back alive as well. We need upgrades in technology for it. Only if we have well-tested techniques can we take this step. It may take India at least 20-30 years for this," Desai said.

#Article 370 Was A Political Compromise, Salve Tells SC

Senior advocate Harish Salve on Thursday told the Supreme Court that Article 370 was a “political compromise” arrived at the time of accession and integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India, given the situation and the fact that there were more than one view on the subject.

“It was a political compromise.... There were sharp differences even in the Congress Working Committee. They rejected this plan. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s letter says, 'sorry, I don’t accept this'.... There was the spectre of the United Nations....This was a matter with...competing points of view. So this was the compromise which was incorporated in the Constitution,” Salve told a five-judge Constitution bench presided by CJI D Y Chandrachud, which is hearing petitions challenging changes made to Article 370.

#Countries Join India In Rejecting China's New Map

Governments in the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan on Thursday joined India in rejecting China's new national map, issuing strongly worded statements accusing Beijing of claiming their territory. China published a new version of its national map on Monday to correct what Beijing has in the past referred to as "problematic maps" that it claims misrepresent its territorial borders.

India on Tuesday lodged a strong protest with China over its so-called "standard map" laying claim over Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin, and asserted that such steps only complicate the resolution of the boundary question.
