The Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP IT wing chief Amit Malviya for allegedly distorting state minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's remark on Sanatan Dharma and spreading misinformation.
Malviya has reportedly been booked under four sections of the Indian Penal Code.
This comes after the Uttar Pradesh Police booked Udhayanidhi and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge for "outraging religious feelings" in the wake of the political firestorm over Stalin's remark. The FIR against the DMK and Congress leaders was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Rampur based on the complaint of a lawyer, Ram Singh Lodhi.
