#Sanatan Dharma Row: TN Police Books Amit Malviya For ‘Distorting’ Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Speech

The Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP IT wing chief Amit Malviya for allegedly distorting state minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's remark on Sanatan Dharma and spreading misinformation.

Malviya has reportedly been booked under four sections of the Indian Penal Code.

This comes after the Uttar Pradesh Police booked Udhayanidhi and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge for "outraging religious feelings" in the wake of the political firestorm over Stalin's remark. The FIR against the DMK and Congress leaders was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Rampur based on the complaint of a lawyer, Ram Singh Lodhi.

#Solicitor General on Jammu And Kashmir MP's Court Affidavit, ‘Insult to Injury'

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on Tuesday said that the affidavit filed by National Conference MP Mohammad Akbar Lone, the lead petitioner challenging the abrogation of Article 370, was a "farce". 

"I informed the court that the affidavit adds insult to injury already caused to the nation. I requested the court to read what Mr Lone has chosen not to write in the affidavit. This affidavit is a farce," he told India Today.

On Monday, the Supreme Court had asked Lone to file an affidavit confirming that he unconditionally accepts that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and that he owes allegiance to the Constitution of India.

#Supreme Court Reserves Order On Petitions Challenging Scrapping Of Article 370

The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on a batch of pleas challenging abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution which conferred special status on the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. The five-judge bench of the Supreme Court reserved its order after 16 days of marathon hearings.  

The bench, comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and Surya Kant, heard a batch of pleas challenging the Central government's 2019 decision to scrap Article 370.

#Judiciary: SC Adjourns Hearing Of Brinda Karat’s Plea For Filing of FIR Against Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma

The two leaders made alleged hate speeches during the Delhi assembly elections in 2020 when the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests were ongoing in the city.

The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing of the petition filed by CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat seeking registration of FIR against BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma for their alleged hate speeches during the 2020 Delhi riots to October 3.

A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Pankaj Mithal deferred the hearing of the case after Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for Delhi Police, submitted a request for adjournment.
