#CJI Chandrachud To Examine Complaints That Lawyers Are Not Being Allowed To Appear In Manipur HC

With large number of litigants with various grievances, mostly challenging FIRs against them, knocking the doors of Supreme Court directly rather than approaching the Manipur HC on grounds that “lawyers are not being allowed to appear” in the ethnic strife torn state’s High Court, Supreme Court on Tuesday decided to verify the veracity of this claim.

CJI D Y Chandrachud led bench said it will seek reports from the Manipur HC’s Registrar General and from the state government in this regard.

#Nipah alert issued in Kerala's Kozhikode after 2 'unnatural' deaths

The Kerala Health Department issued an alert after two "unnatural deaths" were reported due to fever in Kozhikode. Health officials suspect that the Nipah virus infection may be the cause of these deaths.

These two deaths occurred at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Also, a relative of one of the deceased is currently in the intensive care unit of a hospital. The test results for this patient are expected to be available on Wednesday.

#New COVID-19 Shots Approved By FDA Amid Rise In Hospitalisations In US

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday updated COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna as the hospitalisations from the virus rise in the United States. Notably, Omicron variants have started circulating in the country.

The FDA authorised the updated shots from Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech SE, and Moderna against the XBB.1.5 subvariant. Meanwhile, the agency has not taken any decision on an updated Covid shot from Novavax, reported CNBC.

#UK PM Rishi Sunak Raises Concern Over Interference in UK Democracy With China's Premier Li Qiang

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday (September 10) said that he had expressed concerns over Chinese interference in Britain's parliamentary democracy, during his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in India's national capital Delhi, after the reported arrest of two alleged spies.

One of the people who was arrested on suspicion of spying for China was a researcher in the British parliament, reported UK newspaper, The Sunday Times.
