#China Pneumonia Outbreak: What We Know So Far as India Issues Advisory Amid Rising Cases

Bringing back memories of the Covid-19 pandemic, four years after it first emerged in the country, China is dealing with a surge in respiratory illnesses being likened to a kind of pneumonia. Affecting mostly children, it is being associated with the onset of winter and ongoing influenza.

India issued a health advisory for all states and union territories on Sunday, asking them to immediately review public health preparedness amid rising cases in northern China. The ministry of health and family welfare said it has decided to proactively review preparatory measures against respiratory illnesses as a matter of extreme caution.

#Qatar Court Accepts India's Appeal Against Death Penalty To Ex-Navy Men

Qatar court has accepted India's appeal to study the death sentence handed down to eight-ex Indian Navy personnels it had arrested last year, Times Now reported on Friday.

The Qatar court had announced the death penalty for these Indians on October 26.

The ministry of external affairs had expressed shock over the verdict and had assured that the government was exploring all legal options.

#Delhi Air Quality In ‘Severe’ Category, Unlikely To Improve Over Weekend

Delhi’s air quality on Friday morning touched the ‘severe’ category after being in the ‘very poor’ category for six consecutive days until Thursday.

Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) at 7.05am on Friday stood at 401 (severe).

This is a deviation from the forecasts on Thursday, which had indicated that Delhi’s AQI was expected to remain ‘very poor’ on Friday, and possibly touching severe only on Saturday.

#Chidambaram Takes Dig At TN Guv RN Ravi, 'SC Judgment Stern Rebuke To All Governors'

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram took a swipe at Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi after the Supreme Court said governors cannot be at liberty to keep bills pending indefinitely without taking any action. While Supreme Court made the observation while directing Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit to decide on the bills passed by the Assembly, Chidambaram said the judgment was a stern "rebuke" to all governors.

The senior Congress leader called on Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi to read the entire ruling of the apex court. The remark came after the Tamil Nadu Governor returned 10 nills passed by the state Assembly. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also slammed Governor Ravi for withholding the bills due to his "whims and fancies."
