#Russia-Ukraine: US Nod To 0NATO For Sending Fighter Jets To Ukraine Finds No Takers

With Russia looking to escalate its military offensive in Ukraine, the US has given a "green light" to Nato countries willing to hand over fighter jets to Ukrainian forces. However, the proposal is yet to yield any results, since no country has come forward with a concrete plan to supply fighter jets to Ukraine.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had requested the US and European countries to help Kyiv by handing over fighter jets to Ukrainian forces.

Poland was reportedly willing to send MiG-29s to Ukraine in exchange for US-made F-16s. But the same has been denied by Poland. But Poland is no exception. No other Nato country has offered to hand over fighter jets to Ukraine in order for them to be able to stall the Russian invasion.

#Pollution: PM’s Call Against Single-Use Plastic Spurred Global Action: India At UN

A global call given by PM Narendra Modi in 2018 for eliminating single-use plastics has provided momentum for action, culminating in the historic resolution and its adoption to end plastic pollution, said environment minister Bhupender Yadav while delivering India’s statement at a special session of UN Environment Programme in Nairobi on Friday.

He said, “We believe this will institutionalise ‘beat plastic pollution’ around the world.” He was referring to the resolution where 175 countries, including India, during the fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) on Wednesday agreed to forge an international “legally binding agreement” by 2024 to end plastic pollution through multiple actions. He also stressed on paying greater attention to “means of implementation” in such a manner that it may not put burden on developing countries. He said, “Provision of finance, technology transfer and capacity building would ensure that implementation of these agreements is not a mere burden for developing countries but a pathway to a greener and healthier planet.”
