#Maharashtra: Court Orders Probe Against Maharashtra Congress Chief Over ‘Modi' Comment

The Mazgaon magistrate court in Mumbai has ordered the Bhoiwada police station to investigate a comment made by Maharashtra Congress party president Nana Patole about abusing and hitting 'Modi'. The Senior Police Inspector of Bhoiwada police station has been asked to submit a report by May 26, 2022.

In January this year, a video of Patole went viral in which he was seen saying, "Why do I fight? I have been in politics for the last 30 years. In five years, a politician can make enough to provide for his next generation. By building schools and colleges, they can provide for one or two generations for their future. I have been in politics for so long, yet I don't own even one school, nor did I take any contracts. I help whoever comes to me for help. That's why I can hit Modi and abuse him and that is the reason why he came to campaign against me."

#India-UK: Boris Johnson To Start Two-Day India Visit From Ahmedabad: From Defence To Trade

After having to cancel his India trip last year owing to the rising COVID-19 cases in India, United Kingdom prime minister Boris Johnson will be in India on a two-day visit, starting 21 April. Johnson’s visit to India comes at a time when Ukraine continues to fight Russia — it’s day 54 of the war — and the two countries have had divergent views on the conflict. While London has imposed economic sanctions on Moscow and supplied weapons to Kyiv, the Narendra Modi government has continued to toe a diplomatic fine line of neutrality and refused to back a United Nations Security Council vote that deplored Moscow’s “aggression” against its neighbour.

We take a look at what’s on the agenda and what’s being planned for BoJo’s visit to India.

#Jharkhand: Trouble Mounts For CM Soren As EC Seeks Details Of Quarry Lease, BJP Calls For Ouster

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has landed in hot water over the lease to a stone quarry in Ranchi, which was allegedly issued in his favour by the mining department. The Raj Bhavan has taken cognisance of the matter after a BJP delegation led by former CM Raghubar Das submitted a memorandum on February 10. Another delegation led by Babulal Marandi also handed over a memorandum along similar lines to the governor the next day.

The memorandums stated that Soren had brazenly violated Section 9A of Representation of Peoples Act 1951 by misusing the power of his office. The BJP alleged it was a case of office of profit as Soren secured the mining lease despite being the chief minister.
