Supreme Court judge Justice JB Pardiwala, one of the SC judges who slammed Nupur Sharma's remarks on Prophet Mohammad, slammed 'personal attacks' being hurled at the judges.

Justice Pardiwala on Sunday cautioned that personal attacks on judges for their judgements will lead to a "dangerous scenario" in the country while suggesting that trials by digital media calls for undue interference in process of justice dispensation.

According to ANI, Justice JB Pardiwala, who was part of the Supreme Court bench that slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nupur Sharma for her comments on Prophet Muhammed, said that personal attacks on judges for their judgements lead to a "dangerous scenario" where the judges have to think about what media thinks instead of what the law really thinks.

The pace of economic growth will slow down steeply if the much-needed reforms are not implemented, warned former Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan.

"I think (that) with the right set of reforms, India can up the pace of growth. Without that and more of the political turmoil and infighting that always happen in India, it will grow too slowly for its own good. How you get to that higher pace of reforms, we will have to see," Rajan said at a Standard Chartered event in Singapore on July 4.

"We have in place a government that's attempting those reforms. But unfortunately, perhaps because a consensus for those reforms hasn't been built widely, there is a lot of opposition and those reforms haven't played out – for example, on agriculture that were effectively rolled back," Rajan said.

In a major jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, the Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat on Sunday has conveyed to rebel leader Eknath Shinde, who is now CM, that he will continue to be the Shiv Sena Legislative Party leader and Bharat Gogawale as the chief whip.

The Secretariat has cancelled the appointments of Ajay Chaudhary as the legislative party leader and Sunil Prabhu as Chief whip.

Telangana could have easily been one of the top states in the country, but is lagging behind thanks to the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, lamented Union minister Piyush Goyal while reading out the Bharatiya Janata Party’s statement at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meet at Hyderabad.

“The BJP struggled for years and its workers sacrificed their lives for creation of the state of Telangana… The TRS government has become a symbol of dynasty and corruption,” said the statement, which expressed “grief” over the “difficulties” faced by the people.

Complying with the May 20 Supreme Court order, the court of Varanasi district judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha will restart from Monday hearing on the arguments of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid (AIM) - the mosque management committee - challenging maintainability of the case seeking permission to offer prayers to Shringar Gauri and other deities in Gyanvapi mosque compound.
