#SriLankanCrisis: Rajapaksa Flees to Maldives Ahead of Expected Resignation, May Head to Another Country from Male

Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is due to offer his resignation on Wednesday, has landed in the Maldivian capital of Male, sources here said this morning. Quoting Maldivian sources, they said he was received by a Maldivian government representation at the Velana airport last night.

The president would most likely proceed to another Asian country from there, the source said. The immigration official said authorities could not under law prevent a sitting president from leaving the country.

Rajapaksa was due to step down as president on Wednesday to make way for a unity government, after thousands of protesters stormed his and the prime minister’s official residences on Saturday demanding their ouster.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched 75 defence products powered by artificial intelligence at the first-ever 'AI in Defence' symposium and exhibition organised by the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi.

These products were launched as part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations. Out of these 75 products, some are already being used by the armed forces while the rest are in the process of deployment.

These 75 products are in the domains of robotics systems, cyber security, human behaviour analysis, intelligent monitoring system, supply chain management, voice analysis and C4ISR (command, control, communication, computer and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) and operational data analytics.
