#MilitaryPower: Atmanirbhar Bharat Needs High-End Precision Weapons

The drone strike that killed former al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, days before United States (US) House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is clear signalling from Washington. One, that the US will unleash its entire technological might to combat adversaries. Two, that the inference that US military power and technological panache are on the wane may be wishful rhetoric.

The ability to take out a critical portion of a building, with the entire structure still intact, is a spectacular feat of military precision. It is also an extraordinary accomplishment of techno-military prowess, propelled greatly by proficiencies in microelectronics. While most of the conversations around the R9X missile focus on the method of destruction — the halo of blades that emerge from the missile right before impact to shred the target or the precise amount of explosive that minimises collateral damage in a car or a mud hut — it is equally important to explore the wider swathe of precision technologies that drive these precision missions.

#BMC-Polls: Estranged Thackeray Cousins Uddhav & Raj Expected To Come Together

Will the estranged brothers Uddhav and Raj Thackeray come together? The buzz is getting louder after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s wife Sharmila Thackeray said let there be a proposal from Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray. Even though Sharmila did not rule out the possibility of Uddhav and Raj joining hands ahead of BMC elections, she said, ‘’Let there be a call, and let us see then.’’

Her statement is important especially after the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led maha Vikas Aghadi government after the rebellion staged by Eknath Shinde and when the Thackeray faction is striving hard for its survival.

It may be noted that Krishna was the excise commissioner in the Delhi government and Anand Kumar was the deputy excise commissioner.

The Centre issued the suspension order for the two officials after they were named in the FIR filed by the CBI in connection with its ongoing probe into the case, the officials said.

#UP: Keshav Prasad Maurya To Be Next UP BJP Chief: Dy CM's Tweet Sets Off Speculation

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday posted a cryptic tweet, amid speculation over who will become the new BJP chief in the state. “Sangathan sarkaar se barhaa hai (the organisation is bigger than the government),” Maurya said in a one-line tweet in Hindi.

Swatantra Dev Singh, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, had earlier stepped from the post of the state BJP chief.

"He (Keshav Prasad Maurya) has always said from every forum and even in public programmes that party workers should not consider themselves less than a deputy CM, and the officials should understand this. Today, he said the same thing in Ghaziabad, and also tweeted it," a party office-bearer told PTI.
