#IndianArmy: To Begins Review Of Customs, Policies To Erase British Colonial Legacy

The Indian Army has started the process of reviewing its customs, age-old practices, regulations and policies to erase the British colonial legacy. Names of the units and regiments will also be reviewed.

"Some of the legacy practices which require a review, like customs and traditions from the colonial and pre-colonial era, army uniforms, regulations, laws, rules, policies, unit establishment, institutes of colonial past, English names of some units, renaming of buildings, establishments, roads, parks, an institution like Auchinleck or Kitchener House," the Army said in a statement.

After getting feedback from all quarters of the legal fraternity, Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on Tuesday convened a full court meeting to take a call on the current system of listing of cases and how it can be improved for faster disposal of matters.

According to sources familiar with the development, the new case listing system introduced after CJI Lalit took over was one of the key agendas among other issues pertaining to the administrative side of the Supreme Court.

#SSC-Scam: Special Court Remands VC of North Bengal University to CBI Custody For 6 Days

A special court has sent vice-chairperson of North Bengal University Subires Bhattacharyya, who was arrested on Monday for his alleged involvement in the teachers' recruitment scam in the state, to CBI custody for six days.

Subires Bhattacharya was the chairperson of West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) from 2014-2018. The Central Bureau of Investigation has claimed that the alleged irregularities in the teachers' recruitment occurred during his tenure as the SSC chairman.

As per reports shared by Badal the flight was delayed for four hours. "Disturbing media reports quoting co-passengers say Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was deplaned from a Lufthansa flight as he was too drunk to walk. And it led to a 4-hour flight delay. He missed AAP's national convention. These reports have embarrassed and shamed Punjabis all over the globe," tweeted Badal.

#WestBengal: State Universities Not Using CUET For Admission To UG Courses

None of the state universities in West Bengal have adopted the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG model for admission to undergraduate courses, authorities said on Sunday. Vice Chancellor of Diamond Harbour Women's University Soma Bandyopadhyay told PTI, "we have conducted the entrance test as directed by the state higher education department."

"Being a state university... we devise the admission criteria going by the directives of the state higher education department. There is no way we can adopt the CUET method or prepare any new merit list," she said. The state-run Jadavpur University has already conducted it's own entrance tests for UG courses for various departments, Jadavpur University Teachers' Association spokesperson Partha Pratim Roy said.
