This sums up what lies in store as far as organisational changes in the Congress are concerned. 

On October 26, 2022, when Mallikarjun Kharge took charge of the party as its president, he acknowledged that, "Despite our 137-year history and sacrifices of our leaders, voters are upset with the party." Kharge quickly added while thanking Rahul Gandhi, "for leading Bharat Jodo Yatra an attempt to reconnect with public."

#Judiciary: Centre Gets Notice For 'Critical Delay' In Approving Names Of Judges Proposed For Elevation In High Courts

The Supreme Court on Friday pulled up the Centre for the delay in approving the names of the judges proposed for elevation in high courts, even after they were approved by the apex court's collegium, and issued a notice to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice to explain the reason for the delay.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul was hearing a contempt petition filed by the Advocates Association Bengaluru in 2021 against the Centre for not approving some names reiterated by the Supreme Court Collegium.

Senior advocate Vikas Singh told the bench that the government didn't approve the names and cited the example of Justice Dipankar Dutta, whose name the SC Collegium sent for approval five weeks ago. To this, Justice Kaul said, "We do not plan to issue contempt just yet."

#Indo-China: ‘India's Relationship With China Cannot Be Normal Unless…’: S Jaishankar on Border Row

Amid the ongoing border tension between India and China, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said that relationship between the two countries cannot be normal unless there is “peace and tranquillity” in the border areas.

Jaishankar said that there is no ambiguity in India's messaging to China, adding that the present state of relations is not even in Beijing's own interest.

"I am saying that unless there is peace and tranquillity in the border areas, unless there is observance of agreements and no unilateral attempt made to change status quo, the relationship cannot be normal and is not normal," Jaishankar said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

#GyanvapiRow: Supreme Court To Hear Today Plea On Extended Cover For Gyanvapi ‘Shivling’

Hindu parties on Thursday requested the Supreme Court to extend its May 17 interim order directing the Varanasi district magistrate to seal off the wuzu (ablution) area inside the Gyanvapi mosque to protect the ‘Shivling’ which was purportedly discovered during a trial court ordered survey.

Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain requested a bench headed by CJI D Y Chandrachud to extend the May 17 interim order during the pendency of the issue in the trial court and the Allahabad HC. While the trial court is seized of a suit filed by five Hindu women seeking right to worship goddess Shringar Gauri inside the mosque, the committee of management of the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid (Gyanvapi mosque management) has moved the HC challenging the trial court’s decision to appoint the local commissioner for survey of the mosque and has sought quashing of the report.

Aday after release from Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, Senior Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday praised the Maharashtra government being run by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and said that the new Eknath Shinde-Fadnavis government had taken some “good decisions. ”

“A new govt was formed in Maharashtra, I welcome some of their good decisions. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis took some good decisions. We feel that the state is being run by Deputyy Chief Minister Fadnavis and he is leading the state,” he told reporters, adding he will be meeting Fadnavis in “2-4 days related to the work of people.”
