The Bombay High Court on Monday issued a notice to the Maharashtra government asking them to file a reply to the plea by Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant, and MLA Bhaskar Jadhav.

While directing the Government pleader JP Yagnik, the bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and RN Laddha asked, "How can there be two FIRs for a single cause of action?" The government has been asked to file a reply by the next hearing scheduled on December 15. 

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leaders had approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash one of the two FIRs registered against them in connection with a protest in Navi Mumbai. 

Hitherto, the worst electoral performance of the Congress in Gujarat has been in the 1990 Assembly election, wherein the party got mere 33 seats and 30.74 per cent vote share. Rare public protests opposing China's stringent Covid-19 lockdowns have intensified in the country amid calls for Xi Jinping to step down as coronavirus cases continue to rise sharply with close to 40,000 new infections reported on Sunday. Chinese nationals posted and shared several videos of public protests, including a mass demonstration in Shanghai where people in a rare display of anger shouted slogans against the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping, on social media and Twitter.

Many protesters were reportedly being arrested. There are also videos of protests from various university campuses where students came out in the open to oppose the lockdowns. Students were also seen demonstrating at universities in Beijing and Nanjing, among other places. The latest unrest follows a protest in the remote north-west city of Urumqi, where lockdown rules were blamed after 10 people died in a tower block fire, BBC reported.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday (November 27, 2022) made a written assertion that his party is going to form a government in Gujarat after the upcoming Assembly polls. Addressing a press conference in Surat, he said that his predictions for the Delhi and Punjab Assembly elections came true, and the same will now happen in Gujarat.

"Many people say that my predictions in politics come true. During the 2014 Delhi Assembly elections, I told a journalist that Congress won't even win a seat and Congress eventually couldn't win a single seat. Even in the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls, I made several predictions. I had said that Navjot Singh Siddhu will lose, (Charanjit Singh) Channi will lose from both his seats and that (Sukhbir Singh) Badal's whole family will be defeated," Kejriwal said.

The next generation of semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains would be introduced quickly by the government, and 300–400 new trains are likely to be announced in the union budget projections for FY24, according to railway ministry officials aware of the development.

The budget may increase the government's gross support for the nation's transporter above the $1.37 trillion set for in the budget for FY23, the officials added, bringing it to the biggest amount ever. The amount of support in the budget for the current fiscal year increased by 28% from 1.07 trillion in 2021–22.
