Iconic Hindustan Motors Contessa likely to make a comeback in India as electric vehicle

A few days after the rumours of Hindustan Motors Ambassador making a comeback hit the internet, a report now suggests that the iconic HM Contessa muscle car might be relaunched in the Indian market. To substantiate the comeback, the publication has shared details of a trademark, which was initiated in March 2022 to register Contessa name by Hindustan Motors Limited at their Kolkata corporate office. Not only this, Uttam Bose, Director of Hindustan Motors mentioned in an interview that Hindustan Motors has entered in a JV with a Europe-based company to make electric two wheelers, which might later translate to an electric four wheeler as well, giving impetus to Ambassador comeback rumours.

Liquor giant ABD to file for Rs 2,000cr IPO in June

Allied Blenders & Distillers (ABD), the largest domestic liquor company, is set to file for a Rs 2,000-crore IPO later this month at a valuation of nearly Rs 20,000 crore, or $2.5 billion. The company has appointed ICICI Securities, Axis Capital, Kotak Mahindra Capital and JM Financial to manage the public offer.

The IPO will be a combination of a fresh fund-raising by the company and an offer for sale by some of its promoters, in a 50:50 ratio, sources said. It will use Rs 1,000 crore to retire part of its debt and some amount to expand its business, including launch of new brands, they added.

Adani Defence & Aerospace would set up South Asia’s largest integrated ammunition manufacturing complex in defence industrial corridor of Uttar Pradesh.

The UP Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Adani Defence & Aerospace in regard during the groundbreaking ceremony at Lucknow on Friday. The Adani Defence is likely to invest Rs 1500 crore for setting up a state-of-the-art ammunition development and manufacturing complex in Kanpur node of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. The complex spread over more than 250 acres will have state-of-the-art technology across small and medium caliber ammunition, along with short-range air defence missiles.

Air India offers cash incentive, reduces eligibility age to encourage staff to voluntarily retire

In an apparent bid to encourage a significant section of its employees to voluntarily retire, Air India on Wednesday reduced the eligibility age from 55 to 40 and announced cash incentive. The Tata Group took control of Air India on January 27 after successfully winning the bid for the airline on October 8 last year.

Since April, the airline's chairman N Chandrasekaran has rejigged the top management of the airline, bringing in senior and middle-level executives who have worked in other companies of the Tata group such as Tata Steel and Vistara. In a communique sent to employees on Wednesday, the airline said that according to the existing regulations of Air India, permanent employees can avail voluntary retirement if they are of 55 years of age or more and they have worked in the carrier for 20 years.
