SEBI bans Mehul Choksi from market for 10 years

Markets regulator Sebi has banned fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi, former promoter & chairman of Gitanjali Gems, from trading in the markets for 10 years for using front entities to trade in the shares of the company to maintain its price from falling. Choksi has also been fined Rs 5 crore for the same Sebi rule violations that restricts promoters of a company from trading in the shares or derivatives contracts of the same company.

Choksi had defrauded Punjab National Bank and in January 2018 fled the country. Currently he’s been proclaimed an offender by the government and several cases against him, by agencies like CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department, are pending.

CCI order on MakeMyTrip, Oyo spurs fresh debate on price parity agreements

The Competition Commission of India‘s Rs 392-crore penalty on online travel aggregators MakeMyTrip (MMT) and Goibibo and hospitality firm Oyo for instances of unfair business practices has triggered a fresh debate on price parity agreements and discounting practices implemented by consumer Internet firms.

A price parity agreement in a consumer Internet context can be defined as a contract under which suppliers or sellers are obligated to provide exclusive or lower prices to an online platform or better terms, even if the sellers are working with other rival platforms.

Banned Twitter account restoration: Elon Musk says Twitter to form content moderation council

Twitter’s new owner - billionaire Elon Musk – on Friday announced the formation of a content moderation council, a day after closing the $44 billion deal. The reversal of Twitter account bans has invited a lot of public curiosity ever since Musk proposed to buy Twitter, who has now confirmed that no decision will be taken before a review by new council.

Tesla boss and the world's richest man Musk on Thursday became the new owner on the microblogging site as he completed the Twitter takeover. After his acquisition, Musk sacked Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and legal policy, trust, and safety head Vijaya Gadde.

After making his latest acquisition and announcing some top-level shake-up, Musk has said that the content moderation council will have "widely diverse viewpoints". No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes, the billionaire announced on Twitter.

Sajid, who was accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct during India's #MeToo movement. is currently seen as a contestant in popular reality show Bigg Boss 16, which triggered criticism from various people.

In a press conference, when Karanvir was asked about Bigg Boss 16, the actor said that he supports Sajid, Abdu Rozik and MC Stan as contestants and also feels that anyone who has made a mistake in the past, deserves to be given a chance.

Adani Group mulls to invest in taxi fleet to list on cab apps like Uber in 7 airports

Billionaire Gautam Adani’s group is considering investing in a fleet of passenger vehicles in a bid to list on ride-hailing platforms such as Uber in seven cities where the ports-to-power conglomerate operates airports.

Talks are underway with the US-based ride-hailing company Uber to unveil a plan, the ET reported on Wednesday, citing anonymous sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

Recently, Adani Airports Holding Limited (AAHL), a group company of the Ahmedabad-based conglomerate, and Uber have joined hands to offer passengers a number of passenger-focused initiatives, and Adani Airports now has dedicated pick-up zones for Uber at five of its seven airports.
