Gautam Adani’s mega port hangs in the balance as a fishing community protests

On the main road to billionaire Gautam Adani's planned Vizhinjam mega port on the southern tip of India, a shelter built by the coastal region's Christian fishing community blocks the entrance, preventing further construction.\

The simple 1,200 square-feet structure with a corrugated-iron roof has since August stood in the way of ambitions for the country's first container transhipment port - a $900 million project that seeks to plug into the lucrative shipping trade flowing between juggernaut manufacturers in the East and wealthy consumer markets in the West.

Decorated with banners proclaiming "indefinite day and night protest", the shelter provides cover for roughly 100 plastic chairs, although the number of protesters taking part in the sit-ins on any one day is usually much lower.

Elon Musk to Twitters employees: Send email every Friday with details of work and coding done in a week

Elon Musk continues to set stricter rules on working at Twitter. According to The Verge, Musk wants all Twitter employees to send emails every Friday, updating him about their work or "code samples" if they are engineers. The rule was reportedly laid out in an internal memo, and the employees are instructed to email a company alias so that Musk's normal regular inbox is spared. Currently, Twitter has roughly 2,700 employees.

In a series of tweets, The Verge's editor Alex Heath indicates that employees are required to send the work-update email starting this week. Employees reportedly have to send the email on Wednesday this week because of Thanksgiving celebrations on Thursday and Friday. The internal memo reportedly reads, "Looking forward to making Twitter the highest performing tech software company in the world".

Slash personal income tax rates, decriminalise GST law: Industry body CII urges Centre

Aday before Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman begins the customary pre-budget meetings with stakeholders, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has proposed a reduction in personal income tax rates to revive demand.

This could benefit nearly 5.83 crore individuals who are part of the income tax regime as they have filed ITRs for the assessment year 2022-23.

While this proposal may increase the amount of money in the hands of those who pay direct taxes on income, the other key proposal by industry body CII, if accepted, could lead to a reduction in prices of commodities which attract high GST rates.
