Russia requests India for spare parts as sanctions squeeze its economy

Sanctions-hit Russia has requested India for key spare parts to keep its economy running. A wish list of 500 items has been sent to New Delhi according to a Reuters report. These products include parts for cars, aircraft and trains. The report does not mention whether these parts would be used to refit military hardware.

Reuters reported that the list is provisional and it is unclear how many of the items will actually be exported by India and in what quantity.

The wish list runs 14 pages-long. For Russia’s aircraft sector, it has requested 41 items including landing gear components, fuel systems, communication systems, fire extinguishing systems, life jackets, and aviation tires. Russia’s airplanes are predominantly foreign-made and the industry is facing a severe crunch for spare parts as the west has snapped economic links with Moscow following the Ukraine war.

Apple threatens Twitter with App Store ban, Elon Musk says he will go to war with Apple

Twitter's new owner Elon Musk is lashing at Apple for their Apple App Store policies and tax rules. The Tesla owner accused the company of blocking Twitter from the App Store without specifying why and added that Apple has also stopped advertising on the social media platform. Musk says Apple was pressuring Twitter over content moderation demands. Following his tweets, many of Musk's fans and followers have started running a campaign on the platform in support of "free speech".

Although it remains unconfirmed why Apple is allegedly threatening to "withhold" Twitter from the App Store, tweets and Musk's comments indicate that it might stem from the social media platform's new moderation policy to safeguard "free speech". Apple is yet to confirm these claims; however, this is not the first time the iPhone maker threatened to remove an app from its App Store. For instance, it removed Parler -- a Twitter alternative -- from its App Store following the US Capitol building riots early last year. The app was restored in May 2021 after Parler updated its content and moderation practices. Similar claims are made by Lbry, which said Apple asked the company to "filter some search terms". The company said, "Apple may make good products, but they have been opposed to free speech for some time."

In a tweet showing off slides from his company-wide presentation, Musk claimed Twitter averaged over 2 million new user sign ups per day in the past week, a record high for the platform.

Musk’s presentation also reiterated his earlier claims about user growth, noting that monetizable daily active users (mDAU) on the platform have crossed 250 million for the first time.
