Delhi Police to integrate PCRs with police station beats from September 1

in DNDQuick

To improve functioning and augment capabilities at the Police station level for separation of law and order and investigation functions, Delhi Police will integrate the Police Control Room (PCR) patrolling vans with the existing beats of the police stations from September 1.

According to Delhi Police, the pilot project has already been running in 30 police stations for the past three years.

The merger of the present jurisdictional strength of PCR and that of the Police station beats will enhance the manpower and vehicular capabilities to conduct beat-wise patrolling and better surveillance on criminals and illegal activities, besides attending to law-and-order functions under the single command of the police station or district.

The scheme, a pet project of the chief minister that she had promised ahead of the Assembly elections, is likely to benefit the ruling party in regions such as Jangalmahal and north Bengal, where a large section of the population travels a long distance to collect foodgrains from ration shops.
