Kejriwal reaches out to Punjab voters in Punjabi language

This is a phone call voters across the state have been receiving as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reaches out to them ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.

Continuing to speak in Punjabi, Kejriwal tells the listeners: “Punjab’ch chona (elections) hon walia han. Punjab de maade din hun jaan wale han. Mainu pura yakeen hai ki tusi Aam Aadmi Party nu vote paoge. Aam Aadmi Party di sarkar banan ja rahi hai. Uston baad, Punjab di tariki layi ki karna hai, asi isdi puri yojna bna rhe haan (Elections will be held in Punjab. The bad days of Punjab will soon be history. I am quite sure you will vote for AAP. AAP will form the government. After that we have made all plans on what to do for Punjab’s progress).”

Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, 4 others sentenced to life imprisonment in Ranjit Singh murder case

A special CBI court in Panchkula on Monday awarded life imprisonment to all the accused, including Dera Sacha Sauda's Gurmeet Ram Rahim and four others in the Ranjit Singh murder case. A fine of Rs 31 Lakhs has been levied on Ram Rahim and Rs 50,000 on the remaining accused.

The other four convicted in the case are Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, Avtar Singh, and Sabdil. Krishan and Jasbir have been asked to pay Rs 1.25 lakh each, Avtar is asked to pay Rs 75,000 and Abdil has been told to pay Rs 1.5 lakh.

Akhilesh Yadav confident of big win in UP elections: 'We have crossed 300 seats'

Reacting to reports that the BJP would deny tickets to at least 150 aspirants in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday exuded confidence that his party will claim victory on over 300 seats in the 403-seat state assembly.

"It has been heard that BJP is going to cut tickets of its 150 MLAs. 100 MLAs sat on protest in the State Assembly against CM Yogi Adityanath. We already have 50 MLAs. So the calculation is simple, we’ve crossed 300 seats," Yadav said.

Karnataka Congress calls PM Modi illiterate, sparks row

Ahead of the bypolls to two constituencies in Karnataka on October 30, the Karnataka Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the ruling BJP on Twitter.

In a tweet, the official handle of Karnataka Congress used the phrase 'angootha chhaap' to insinuate that PM Modi is illiterate.

The Opposition party wrote in Kannada, "Congress built schools but Modi never went to study. Congress even set up schemes for adults to learn, Modi didn't learn there too. Even though begging is prohibited, people who are lazy have made the country's people beggars. The country is suffering because of #angoothachhaapmodi."
