New Delhi:NASA has chosen 12 new astronauts, including an Indian-American, from a record number of over 18,000 applicants, who will be trained for missions into Earth orbit and to deep space. The new candidates include six military officers, three scientists, two medical doctors, a lead engineer at SpaceX and a NASA research pilot.

New Delhi:Noted technocrat Sam Pitroda has resigned from Odisha government’s technical advisor post.
Pitroda, who enjoyed the status of a cabinet rank minister as technical advisor to Odisha government had sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was accepted by the later last evening.
New Delhi: India will be admitted as a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) during the summit of the regional grouping beginning Thursday at Astana in Kazakhstan. In a facebook post, Prime Minister NarendraModi said, after India's inclusion as a member, the SCO will represent over 40 per cent of humanity and nearly 20 per cent of the global GDP.
New Delhi:At least 23 people died in Bihar in incidents related to lightning and rain in different parts of the state. Maximum six people were killed in Purnea while seventeen people were killed in seven districts including Patna, Sheikhpura, KatiharSamastipur and Madhepura.
The State government has announced an ex-gratia of four lakh rupees to the next of the kin of deceased. According to Met department, light and moderate rain is expected in next two days in different parts of the state.
