New Delhi:Incessant rainfall since around 3:30 am on Friday in Udhampur area of Jammu region triggered landslides and shooting stones leading to temporary closure of Jammu Srinagar national highway. A police official in Jammu said that no fresh batch of AmarnathYatris from Bhagwati Nagar Bade Camp left on Friday for Base camps on Kashmir.

EC to announce vice president election date today

New Delhi: The date of polling for the post of vice president will be announced today, according to the Election Commission. 
The term of present incumbent Hamid Ansari, who has held the post for two consecutive terms, is coming to an end on August 10.

The electoral college, which elects the vice president, who is also the ex officio chairman of the RajyaSabha, consists of elected and nominated members of the RajyaSabha and the LokSabha. The total strength of the two Houses is 790, but there are some vacancies.

South Korea’s ex-president Park gets life threat from North

New Delhi:In yet another audacious act,  North Korea has threatened to "impose the death penalty" on the South's former president Park Geun-Hye for over an alleged plot to assassinate its leader Kim Jong-Un. 

Park had "pushed forward" a supposed plan by Seoul's intelligence services to eliminate the North's leadership, Pyongyang's security ministry and prosecutors said in a statement carried by its official Korean Central News Agency.
