Iran Joins Slugfest With India On Farzad B Gas Field

New Delhi: The verbal duel between India and Iran on Farzad B gas field has intensified with Tehran claiming that it is under no obligation to award the contract to India.

Iran`s rebuff has taken the Indian side by surprise as the country wants to invest as much as $11 billion to develop Iran's Farzad B gas field.

Tehran now says that Iran has also made light of India's threat to import less crude oil from it, with its Parliament Energy Commission chief saying Iran could find other customers for its oil.

Pak Parliament To Meet Tomorrow To Elect New PM

New Delhi: Pakistan’s Parliament will meet tomorrow to elect a new prime minister after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

The confirmation from Parliament came after President Mamnoon Hussain convened a special session following Sharif’s decision to put forward his ally and longtime loyalist Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as interim leader and named his brother Shahbaz, 65, as long-term successor.

Rs 600 Crore Ponzi Scam Case: ED Arrests Agent Of Chandigarh Firm

New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested an agent of a Chandigarh-based company and seized assets worth 4.18 crore rupees in connection with a money laundering probe of 600 crore rupees ponzi scam case. The absconding agent has been arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and was produced in a Chandigarh court which sent him to 14 days of custody. The ED had earlier conducted searches in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala and Ghazipur in this case.

NIA Raids Places Of Geelani's Close Aide In Jammu In Terror Funding Case

New Delhi: The NIA on sunday, conducted raids at two places belonging to a close aide of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Jammu in connection with its probe in the terror funding case in the Kashmir Valley. 

Officials said that National Investigation Agency, NIA also issued summons to Naseem, the second son of Geelani, who heads separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, to appear before the agency on Wednesday. Geelani's elder son Nayeem has been summoned at the NIA headquarters on monday.

Eviction Matters Should Be Given Priority By Courts At All Stages: SC

New Delhi: Supreme Court has said that eviction matters should be given priority by courts at all stages of litigation, especially in cases where the landlord has sought eviction for his bonafide needs. 

A bench of Justices AM Sapre and R Banumathi observed that the object of the rent law was to ensure speedy disposal of eviction cases between the landlord and the tenant. It expressed hope that due attention will be paid by all courts in deciding such matters.
