New Delhi: The Haryana government has written to the Centre seeking a CBI probe into the gruesome murder of a seven-year old boy at Gurgaon’s Ryan International School.
The murder of the class 2 student, who was found with his throat slit in a school washroom, has triggered a nation-wide furore.
The Haryana government has sent a written communication which has been received by the central government, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, S S Prasad said in a statement.
New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has urged people to communicate in their mother tongue by saying 'Amma' or 'Ammi' comes from the heart while 'Mommy' comes from the lips.
Naidu, while addressing an event to commemorate the birth centenary of music legend M S Subbulakshmi, asked people not to forget their own language but said it was fine to talk in English when speaking to a foreigner.
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami has claimed that his government could not be toppled, though some forces were hopeful of it.
"Some think the government can be toppled. That is never possible as workers and supporters have put in their hard work for its formation," he said in a veiled attack on sidelined party leader T T V Dhinkaran who is seeking his ouster.
Those who believe AIADMK could be broken, such a thought will remain a day dream, the chief minister said at a function in his native Salem district.
New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah has hit back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, saying dynasty is a trait peculiar to the Congress and not the country.
Responding sharply to Rahul`s Berkley remark on dynasticism in India, Shah described the BJP as the only party in the country in which internal democracy prevails.
"Dynasticism is a trait of the Congress. Don't impose it on the country Rahul ji", Shah said, addressing a conference of intellectuals in Dehradun.
He said his own rise to the BJP's top post, despite a non-political family background, is a testimony to the fact that the party gives importance to an individual's abilities and not his lineage.
New Delhi: Iqbal Kaskar, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been arrested on charges of extortion.
Thane Anti-Extortion Cell picked up Kaskar from his Mumbai residence. Former encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma who just took charge of the Thane AEC earlier this month led Kaskar's arrest.
A senior police official said that Kaskar is not alone as two more names of builders from Thane and Mumbra had cropped up in connection to the case. One builder who is under the radar was arrested in an alleged abetment to suicide case two years ago.
