New Delhi: Chief of Congress's Bihar unit Ashok Choudhary has been sacked from the post with immediate effect.

The party, however, did not announce his replacement.
"Congress President Sonia Gandhi has relieved Ashok Choudhary from the post of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee chief with immediate effect," AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.

Delhi High Court Rejects Honeypreet's Bail Plea

New Delhi: Delhi High Court has rejected transit anticipatory bail plea of Honeypreet Insan, who is facing charges of sedition and inciting violence after the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim in two rape cases.

"She has evaded arrest and hence was not entitled to any discretionary relief. The plea was filed in Delhi to buy time and delay proceedings in Haryana," the court observed.

Cong Describes Attack On Ilaiah Another Attempt To Stifle Democracy

New Delhi: The Congress has condemned the attack on noted Dalit writer and thinker Kancha Ilaiah, describing it as another attempt to stifle democracy.

Congress communications In charge Randeep Surjewala asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah why they had not condemned the incident, and urged them to take action against a TDP MP who had allegedly threatened the writer.

Ilaiah had on September 23 filed a police complaint in Parkal in Warangal, Telangana, alleging that four people attacked his vehicle in the town and tried to kill him.

"Strangulating the voices of free thinkers and rationalists has become the 'new normal' in Narendra Modi's 'New India'," Surjewala said.

Shah Says BJP Believes In Politics Of Performance, Cong In Dynasty

New Delhi:  BJP chief Amit Shah has affirmed that his party believed in "politics of performance" while the Congress banked on dynasty and appeasement.

In his inaugural address at the BJP national executive, he also attacked the TMC-ruled West Bengal and the Left-ruled Kerala governments, saying democracy was being "throttled" in the two states.

Shah also lauded the government's handling of economy, saying the average growth rate had been more than seven per cent in the last years while it was 4.7 per cent in 2013-14 under the UPA.

Army Chief Does Not Rule Out Another Surgical Strike Against Pakistan If Necessary

New Delhi: Army chief General Bipin Rawat has asked  Pakistan to desist from promoting cross-border terrorism, stressing that India has a range of retaliatory options available to thwart its nefarious designs like it showed through the cross-border "surgical strikes" a year ago.

The Indian Army, with a strong counter-infiltration grid along the 778-km Line of Control and robust counter-terrorism operations in the hinterland, is also ready to keep on "welcoming" infiltrating terrorists and "burying them two-and-a-half feet under the ground", said Gen Rawat.
