Try Not To Waste A Single 'Paisa': Air India Chief Asks Employees

in DNDQuick

New Delhi:  Air India chief Rajiv Bansal has said that employees must ensure that not even a single 'paisa' is wasted for a better future.

Bansal, who took over the charge of the top position in the disinvestment-bound airline in late August, in a message to the employees, has also urged them to be economical and adopt thrifty work practises without compromising with safety and quality.

"Cost consciousness is another core area to improve the financial health of the company. While we strive to make improvements in our services, be it in-flight catering or entertainment, aircraft cabin ambiance, lounges and offices, we must ensure that not even a single 'paisa' is wasted," Bansal said.

The Government-run Air India has a little over 21,000 employees on its payroll.

"We ought to shun all avoidable and wasteful expenditure and adopt thrifty work practises without compromising with safety and quality," the Air India Chairman and Managing Director said in the message.

BJP Mocks Rahul Gandhi, Says Present Only On Twitter

in DNDQuick

New Delhi: The BJP has mocked Rahul Gandhi by saying it has won everywhere the Congress leader has campaigned and claimed that his presence was only on Twitter.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar also cited his party’s performance in the local body polls in Maharashtra and Gujarat to assert that it remained the people’s choice for development across the country.

Javadekar made light of the Congress vice presidents campaign in Gujarat, saying the BJP won wherever he went.

"Rahul Gandhi is only on Twitter. His politics is confined to tweets. If you have mass support, then tweets are a symbol of strength, but doing politics through tweets is political bankruptcy," he remarked.

US pretends to fight Islamic State in Syria, Iraq: Russia

in DNDQuick

New Delhi: Russia has charged the United States with pretending to fight Islamic State and of deliberately reducing its air strikes in Iraq to allow the group’s militants to stream into Syria to slow the Russian-backed advance of the Syrian army.

The Pentagon strongly denied the accusations, saying that the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State posts data every day on the number and result of strikes for the public to see.

In the latest sign of rising tensions between Moscow and Washington, the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement that the U.S.-led coalition had sharply reduced its air strikes in Iraq in September when Syrian forces, backed by Russian air power, had started to retake Deir al-Zor Province.

“Everyone sees that the U.S.-led coalition is pretending to fight Islamic State, above all in Iraq, but continuing to allegedly fight Islamic State in Syria actively for some reason,” said Major-General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for Russia’s defense ministry.
