Congress Challenges Rajasthan Ordinance In High Court

New Delhi: Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot on Thursday moved a writ petition in the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur challenging last month's controversial ordinance, which has extended protection to public servants, judges and magistrates against investigation and prosecution without prior sanction.

Though the BJP government tabled a bill to replace the ordinance in the Assembly on Monday, the ordinance remains in force for six weeks, as the Bill has been referred to a select committee of the House for its reconsideration.

India Levies Anti-dumping Duty On Steel From EU, China, Korea

New Delhi: India has slapped anti-dumping duty on certain stainless steel products from the European Union and several other nations, including China and Korea, to protect the domestic industry from cheap imports. 

The duty has been imposed by the Revenue department following recommendation by the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD). 

In a notification, the Revenue department said, the levy ranges between 4.58 per cent and 57.39 per cent of the landed value of cold-rolled flat products of stainless steel. The duty will be in effect until December 10, 2020, while certain grades of stainless steel have been exempted from the levy.

Sharad Says Linking Of Aadhaar With Bank Ac/S Shouldn't Be Mandatory

New Delhi: JD(U) MP Sharad Yadav has said linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts and food security schemes should not be made mandatory as it created problems for people, and claimed that even the family of former Union minister George Fernandes faced difficulty on this account.

The rebel JD(u) leader said that pensioners and the poor benefiting from the National Food Security Act were hit hard when it was made compulsory.

He claimed Fernandes's wife had recently approached him, seeking help over the linking of the leader's Aadhaar number with his bank account.

Resident Docs At AIIMS To Go Hungry From Today

New Delhi: About 2,000 resident doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sceinces (AIIMS) will go hungry from today in protest against the "improper implementation" of the seventh central pay commission's recommendations, but continue working.

The resident doctors have also sought the prime minister's intervention in the issue.

"We have remained silent for a long time, hoping for a response from the Health Ministry. But there has been a complete lack of constructive steps taken by the ministry”, former AIIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) president Dr Vijay Kumar said.
