Rahul Gandhi Accuses Modi Of Killing Country's Economy, Unleashing Tsunami

New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "killing" the country's economy by firing "double tap" shots of note ban and GST into it, and asserted that only someone with "a very big chest but a very small heart" could do this.

The Goods and Services Tax was "flawed" and had unleashed a "tsunami of tax terrorism", he said, promising that the Congress would strive to reform it "when it came to power".

"Our position is that GST has to be reformed and changed," he said.

Venkaiah Naidu Says Number Of Doctors In India Grossly Inadequate

New Delhi: Vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu has said that the number of doctors in the country was grossly inadequate. 

He divulged the fact that while the number of physicians was 20 per 10,000 people in developed countries, it was only six in India. 

"The country needs 10.5 lakh doctors while we have only 6.5 lakh," he said.

Ex-US Senator Larry Pressler Says Pakistan More Dangerous Than North Korea

New Delhi:  A former top American Senator has warned that Pakistan is more dangerous than North Korea as it does not have a centralised control on its nuclear weapons, making them vulnerable to theft and sale.

Larry Pressler, who served as chairman of the US Senate's Arms Control Subcommittee, feared that Pakistan's nuclear weapons might be used against the US, warning the possibility of someone buying these nuclear weapons from generals or colonels.

As chairman of Senate Arms Control Subcommittee, Pressler advocated the now-famous Pressler Amendment, enforced in 1990.

BJP Says Rahul Gandhi And Rhetoric Make Good Combination

New Delhi: Hitting back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of the Centre over the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation, the BJP has asserted that the Congress vice-president and rhetoric “make a good combination”.

 Responding to the Congress leader’s attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the notes ban and GST, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Rahul and responsibility never go together, but Rahul and rhetoric make a good combination.”

He also questioned Rahul Gandhi over his silence during the UPA regime when the economy, he claimed, was “doomed”.

“When the UPA was in charge of the economy, there was a policy paralysis and the economy was doomed. Why did he (Rahul Gandhi) not utter a single word at that time?” Patra asked.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Behrampada Slums Area In Mumbai’s Bandra

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at the Behrampada slums area right outside the Bandra Railway Station in Mumbai during a demolition drive by the civic authorities.

Declared a Level IV disaster, the second most serious category in disaster management, the blaze erupted during a demolition drive by the civic authorities.

According to the BMC Disaster Control, there were multiple cylinder blasts and few ways of exiting.  16 fire tenders and 17 water tankers were rushed to the spot of the blaze in Behrampada slums in Bandra east to douse the flames, the thick black smoke from which was visible for several kilometres.
