Demonetisation Helped In Flushing Out Black Money: Finance Ministry

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has said,demonetisation has helped in flushing out black money, eliminating fake notes and reducing cash in circulation. 

In a tweet, the Ministry yesterday said, the total currency in circulation has come down to almost Rs. 15 lakh crore as of 4th August from around 18 lakh crores. 

It said, only 83 per cent is the effective currency in circulation today with remonetisation.

Congress Demands Major Overhaul Of GST

New Delhi: The Congress has insisted on a major overhaul of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), alleging that the tax reform measure turned out to be a "big disappointment" due to its "poor" implementation.

The finance ministers of the Congress-ruled Punjab and Karnataka, ManpreetBadal and Krishna Gowda, alleged that the country "lost the opportunity" to bring tax reform and that there was "utter chaos and confusion" forcing many businesses to shut down.

They also alleged that there was "poor implementation" with regard to GST's concept, design, tax rates, exemptions, compliance requirement and technological preparedness.

Railways To Roll Out Its 'Gold' Standard Today

New Delhi:  In a remarkable feat, the railways will showcase its first 'Swarn' train (gold standard) on Monday. 

The New Delhi-Kathgodam Shatabdi Express will be the first to be launched as part of the railways' 'Swarn' project which aims to renovate India's premium trains, including Rajdhanis and Shatabdis.

From new on-board entertainment to trolley service for catering, new coach interiors and clean toilets with automatic doors, these elite trains are being upgraded at a cost of Rs 50 lakh each.

Delhi HC Says Industry Not Paying Minimum Wages Cannot Continue

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has said, an industry which does not pay the minimum wages to its workers has no right to continue. 

The Court said, the employment of workmen without paying them the minimum wages constitutes a criminal offence for which punitive sanctions are provided under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. 

The order was pronounced while allowing the petition of a gardener and dismissing the plea of his employer, the Central Secretariat Club, on the issue of payment of minimum wages to him as prescribed by the Delhi Government.

I Will Definitely Start A Political Party: Kamal Haasan

New Delhi: Leaving no ambiguity, actor Kamal Haasan has made it clear that he will launch a political party soon.

"I will surely start a party and enter politics," said the 62-year-old actor during a function to mark the 39th anniversary of his welfare association (Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam) at Kelambakkam near Chennai.

The actor said he would take the first step towards the launch of his party by dedicating a mobile app to his fans on occasion of his birthday on November 7. The mobile app will be used to keep account of funds the actor receives from fans.
