Politics over Chhath Puja continued on Sunday, with West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma saying he would defy the ban on celebrating the festival on the Yamuna banks at ITO and challenged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to stop him if he could. AAP leaders, meanwhile, staged a protest at Dwarka and accused the BJP of stopping them from preparing a Chhath ghat.

AAP MLA from Burari Sanjeev Jha who staged the protest at Dwarka, accompanied by fellow MLA Vinay Mishra, for construction of a Chhath ghat there, alleged that the BJP was trying to obstruct the Puja. “At many places in Delhi, the BJP is stopping Purvanchalis from preparing Chhath ghats to obstruct Chhath Puja. The AAP MLA and volunteers have come forward to construct Chhath ghat in Dwarka in response to this,” tweeted Jha.

A civilian who was shot by terrorists in Srinagar has succumbed to bullet injuries. The incident took place outside a shop in the Bohri Kadal area in downtown Srinagar on Monday evening.

Identified as one Mohd Ibrahim Khan, the victim was a salesman from Bandipora. He was brought to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar with a bullet in his abdomen and succumbed during treatment.

Media has also learnt that the victim was employed at a pharmacy run by a doctor, who also happens to be a Kashmiri pandit.

In order to promote religious tourism in the country, a special train commenced from Delhi's Safdarjung station which will cover seven destinations related to Lord Ram in the next 17 days.

The Shri Ramayan Yatra train has been launched under "Dekho Apna Desh" (see your country) initiative by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The IRCTC has planned a series of Shri Ramayana Yatra Tours and other trains with different packages will also be launched soon.

Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya is the first destination of Shri Ramayana Yatra train followed by Bihar's Sitamarhi. Rameshwaram is the last destination.
