New Delhi: Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has assailed fellow party leader Shashi Tharoor's criticism of the country's "so called valorous maharajas."

"I think he should study history. I am Jyotiraditya Scindia and I am proud of my past," Scindia said.

Tharoor had on Thursday accused India's erstwhile kings of being "less concerned about their honour when the British were trampling all over it," but today going after "a Mumbai filmmaker because their honour is at stake."

New Delhi: Union home minister Rajnath Singh has requested Microsoftfounder and philanthropist Bill Gates to focus on developing Indian villages into 'model villages' by initiating new technologies in fields of agriculture and sanitation.

Singh, during his meeting with Gates, co-chairperson of the Bill & Melinda GatesFoundation, appreciated the various welfare works being undertaken by the US donor in India. The home minister requested Gates to expand its health awareness programmes in India and develop "model villages" so that the local people get inspired. Gates, on his part, explained the various technologies being adopted by them in the field of agriculture and sanitation.

New Delhi: Cabinet has approved creation of National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA) under GST, to ensure benefits of reduction in indirect tax rates are passed on to consumers. 

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the decision reflects governments full commitment to take all possible step to ensure benefits of implementation of GST to the common man. 

He said, the authority will comprise a standing committee, screening committee in every state and Director General of safeguards in the central board of Excise and customs. Mr Prasad said, the constitution of NAA will bolster the confidence of consumer as they reap the benefits of recent reduction in GST rates. 

New Delhi: Delhi government will offer applicants for 40 public services spanning eight departments the possibility of staying at home and having a "mobile sahayak" (mobile assistant) do the legwork for you for a "pre-fixed facilitation fee". The fee is to be "nominal".

So, instead of you rushing to a cyber cafe to submit an online application or falling prey to hapless intermediaries outside government offices and finally queuing up to submit documents, the state's "mobile sahayak" will do the job to save time, prevent corruption and harassment and ensure time-bound service delivery without repeated visits.
