Congress, PAAS Reach Agreement Over Reservation To Patels

New Delhi: The Gujarat Congress and Hardik Patel led-PatidarAnamatAndolanSamiti (PAAS) said that they have reached an agreement over the issue of granting reservation to Patels, if the Congress is voted to power in the state Assembly election.

"Earlier, we had asked the Congress to clarify how they would grant Patidars a constitutionally valid reservation. We held a crucial meeting on that issue and finally reached a consensus on various options offered by the party to us. Official announcement of this agreement will be made by Hardik in Rajkot," said Bambhania, a key aide of Hardik Patel.

Govt Will Improve Sanitation Facilities: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi has reaffirmed the government's commitment towards improving sanitation in the country. In a video posted on Twitter on the occasion of World Toilet Day on Sunday, MrModi stressed the need to end the concept of open defecation saying that this is the best gift that can be given to women. 

The Prime Minister complimented all those individuals and organizations working towards building more toilets in various parts of the country. He said, their invaluable contribution adds solid momentum to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

On earlier occasions, MrModi had exhorted people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Clean India. World Toilet Day is observed every year to raise awareness about of the global sanitation crisis and encourage people to use toilets.

SC Asks Why Not Use Battery-Run Vehicles To Curb Pollution

New Delhi: As air pollution rises to dangerous levels in various major cities of India, the Supreme Court has asked why battery-run and solar energy-run vehicles were not being manufactured in the country on a large scale to replace petrol/diesel-run cars.

The SC said many countries were switching over to battery/solar energy-run vehicles and the same could be replicated in India. The court asked the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to adopt new technology for the benefits of the citizens. 

"Around the world, cars are being run on battery and solar energy. Why cannot it be done here? If you want to make this country move forward, you have to be innovative," a bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta told SIAM.

On arrival, Her Holiness Satguru Mata SavinderHardevJiMaharaj, Spiritual Head of the Mission, blessed the participating men and women by taking an inspecting round. Her Holiness also unfurled the white flag, a symbol of love, peace and harmony.

Reviving the glorious history of the Mission, the Sewadal members showcased the selfless service of Sewadal since its establishment around seven decades ago. The members of the Sewadal presented a co-ordinated display of physical formations with physical exercises, games and aerobics.

India Records Highest-Ever Number Of Domestic Flyers This October At 1.04 Crore

New Delhi: India has witnessed its highest-ever number of domestic flyers in this festive month of October. 

According to DGCA data, 1.04 crore people flew within the country last month. It became the second time ever so far that India witnessed more than a crore domestic flyers in a month. This feat was first recorded this May when 1-crore-and-1-lakh flew in the peak summer holiday month.

This October saw 20.5 per cent more domestic flyers that the 86.7 lakh who flew in same month last year. The January to October, 2017 period has seen 9.5 crore domestic flyers, up 17.3 per cent from 8.1 crore flyers in same period last year. The record number of flyers came as airlines have been offering rock bottom fares.
