AAP Gets Rs 30.67 Crore Income Tax Notice

New Delhi: Income Tax (I-T) department has served a Rs 30.67 crore notice to AamAadmi Party (AAP).

The tax notice has asked AAP why Rs 30.67 crore should not be recovered from the party. It has been asked to furnish a reply by December 7.

The Income Tax department has declared all the donations AAP has received as illegal. AAP national convener ArvindKejriwal saw height of political vendetta in the income tax notice. "In the history of India, All donations to a political party have been declared illegal. All these were accounted for and shown in books of accounts. This is height of political vendetta," he tweeted.

Pak Govt Pitches For Political Settlement With Religious Protesters

New Delhi: Pakistan's top civilian and military leadership has decided that the army will not participate in the crackdown on the religious protesters, who have been blocking the main highway into Islamabad, demanding the resignation of federal law minister Zahid Hamid.

Following the violence, a civil-military huddle chaired by Prime Minister ShahidKhaqanAbbasi and attended by Army Chief General QamarJavedBajwa, ISI Chief NaveedMukhtar, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Home Minister AhsanIqbal, advocated a "political settlement", and said the army would only safeguard the important buildings and government installations in Islamabad.

Jaitley Says Note Ban Had Major Impact On Stone-Pelting Incidents

New Delhi: Finance minister ArunJaitley has asserted that post demonetisation those who used to distribute money to stone pelters in Jammu and Kashmir were "not able to gather" even 100 young people to carry out the attacks.

"On November 8 last year, we introduced note ban and it had a major impact. Those who used to distribute money to stone pelters are not able to gather even 100 youth to pelt stones in the past eight to 10 months after demonetisation," Jaitely said.

He was speaking after listening to Prime Minister NarendraModi's 'Mann Ki Baat' with BJP workers in Surat.

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DipakMisrahas exhorted lawyers not to seek unnecessary adjournments causing delay in disposal of cases and said that judiciary was making all out effort to ensure speedy justice with High Courts working on weekends to adjudicate old cases on priority basis.

Addressing lawyers in Supreme Court lawns on Constitution Day celebration, the Chief Justice said that pendency had gone down during the last two and half months since he took over the rein of judiciary and sought cooperation from advocates to "tame the tiger" of pendency.

"The ministry of textiles has announced several promotional schemes for powerloom textile industry but there is hardly any awareness in the industry. The maximum benefit of these schemes have been taken by the entrepreneurs of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu," Gupta said at the Buyer-Seller Meet and Textile Exhibition in Mumbai.
