Nation remembers Dr B R Ambedkar on his 62nd death anniversary

New Delhi: The nation is remembering DrBhimRaoAmbedkar on his death anniversary on Wednesday. The Father of the Indian Constitution died on this day in 1956.The day is observed every year as MahaparinirvanDiwas.

President Ram NathKovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister NarendraModi today paid floral tributes at DrBhimRaoAmbedkar's statue on his 62nd MahaparinirvanDiwas at the Parliament House lawns in New Delhi.

LokSabha Speaker SumitraMahajan, Deputy Speaker M Tahmidurai, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and other dignitaries also offered tributes to DrAmbedkar at Parliament House lawns.

Gadkari Says River Connectivity Needed Similar To Power Grids

New Delhi: Union Minister NitinGadkari has batted for river connectivity on the lines of power grids for better water conservation, according to an official statement. 

Gadkari, who is Incharge of Ministry of Water Resources, said that availability of water is not the problem in the country, but people need to learn to manage and conserve it. He said the government’s plan to double the income of farmers by 2022 cannot be achieved sans proper water management.

The minister stressed that enhancing drip and pipe irrigation will reduce wastage of water and will be cost effective for farmers.

India Successfully Test-Fires Surface-To-Air Akash Missile

New Delhi: India has successfully test-fired Akash its supersonic surface-to-air missile with indigenous radio frequency seeker from a test range in Odisha. 

The state-of-the-art indigenous missile targeting an UAV 'Banshee', was fired from the launch complex-III of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur.

"The radars, telemetry and electro-optical systems along the coast have tracked and monitored all the health parameters of the missile," an official statement said.

HC Asks Police For Detailed Report On Accused In EC Bribery Case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Police to file a consolidated status report on the bail plea of a middleman arrested in the Election Commission bribery case, allegedly involving AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran and others.

Justice Mukta Gupta asked the Delhi Police Crime Branch to be ready to answer the questions relating to what they have done in the investigation of the case.

The court asked the police to file a consolidated status report in a week and listed the bail application of accused and alleged middleman SukeshChandrashekar's for further hearing on December 18.

SC To Hear Pleas On Deportation Of RohingyasIn January

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has said it would hear on January 31 a batch of pleas, including that of two Rohingya refugees who have approached it against the Centre's decision to deport Rohinigya Muslims to Myanmar.

A bench of Chief Justice DipakMisra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said it would also hear on the next date the interim applications seeking to be impleaded as parties in the ongoing case.

"We are not rejecting any of the impleadment application before us in this matter. We will hear it on the next date," the bench said.
