IIPE To Get Legal Sanctity, Parliament Passes Bill

New Delhi: Parliament has passed a bill that paves way for setting up the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) in Andhra Pradesh to impart high quality education and conduct advance research in all aspects relating to the conventional hydrocarbons.

The bill was passed by voice-vote in the RajyaSabha after a two-hour discussion. The LokSabha had cleared the bill in August.

In his reply, Oil Minister DharmendraPradhan said that the government is fulfilling its commitment made during the bifurcation of unified Andhra Pradesh into two states.

Pak Summons Indian Diplomat Over Soldiers' Killing Along Loc

New Delhi: Pakistan summoned India's acting deputy high commissioner to protest "unprovoked" firing by the Indian Army that killed its three soldiers along the LoC.

The Foreign Office in a statement rejected reports that the Indian Army commandos crossed the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir and smashed a post.

"The false claims by India about the alleged cross LoC adventures are a figment of their imagination and counter-productive for peace and tranquility on the LoC," it said.

RJD To Chalk Out Future Course Of Action On Jan 6

New Delhi: RJD would hold a meeting of its senior leaders including MPs, MLAs and district and cell presidents among others on January 6 in Patna to chalk out the future course of action in the backdrop of fodder scam judgment and LokSabha elections scheduled in 2019.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of senior RJD functionaries held at 10, Circular Road residence of party president Lalu Prasad's wife and former BiharCM Rabri Devi. This was in fact, the first formal meeting of senior RJD leaders following Lalu's conviction verdict in the second fodder scam case given by a special CBI court last Saturday.

Congress Attacks Modi, Compares Him To ‘Bad Santa’

New Delhi: The Congress has slammed Prime Minister NarendraModi by indirectly saying he is  is like the cinematic 'Bad Santa' for the hardships they believe he caused with the note ban and the introduction of GST.

Congress spokesman Manish Tewari tweeted a day after Christmas to say that in the rest of the world "an old man with a white beard" - he meant Santa Claus - stuffed stockings with gifts and money. But in India, a similar looking "old man with a white beard" did quite the opposite, that is, relieved people of their money and left them only with their socks. And instead of coming down the chimney, he entered homes through the TV.
