Pope Says 2017 Was Marred By War And Lies In His Year-End Message

New Delhi: Pope Francisin his year-end message said that 2017 had been marred by war, lies and injustice, and he exhorted people to take responsibility for their actions.

At his last public event of the year, an evening vespers service in St. Peter's Basilica, the pontiff said that humanity had "wasted and wounded" the year "in many ways with works of death, with lies and injustices".

While war was the most obvious sign of "unrepentant and absurd pride", many other transgressions had caused "human, social and environmental degradation".

No Begging Please,Chairman Naidu Directs Ministers

New Delhi: RajyaSabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has once again directed ministers not to use the term ‘beg’ while tabling the listed official papers in the House.

Normally, the ministers say "I beg to lay the papers ... listed against my name in today’s order paper."
Naidu had on the opening day of the winter session advised the ministers and members to shed the "imperial mindset" of using "I beg to lay..." the papers in the House.

He had said that instead they should say "I rise to present the papers listed against my name..."

Anti-Collision Devices In Trains From 2018, says Goyal

New Delhi: Railway minister PiyushGoyal has said only those railway coaches which have in-built anti-collision devices will be produced in the country from June 2018.

Goyaltold the RajyaSabha that a policy decision to fill up 50 per cent of the total vacancies of 1.2 to 1.3 lakh in the railways, assessed as per the sanctioned strength, has also been taken.

This process will take another 6-9 months, he said during Question Hour.

Amit Shah Asserts Triple Talaq Law A Revolutionary Move

New Delhi: BJP national president Amit Shah has hailed the passage of bill against triple talaq byLokSabha and termedit as a revolutionary move.

"The new law will redeem Muslim women from the curse of instant verbal divorce," Shah said while addressing an audience of over 15,000 at PD Jain Inter College ground in Firozabad.

"December 28, 2017 will be written in letters of gold in the history of the fight for Muslim women's rights and equality. Parliament has not only made triple talaq illegal but also added sections on criminal charges, so that women will be freed from the curse of verbal divorce," Shah said.

CISF To Take Over Vips Security Cover Soon: DG

New Delhi: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General O P Singh has said that the VIPs in the country would soon come under the security cover of the CISF.

"The central government has given an instruction that VIPs protection will be carried out by the CISF. Probably, we will be taking all the security of the VIPs, who are now being guarded by the CRPF and other agencies, very soon," he said during a press conference after the passing out parade of the first batch of the lady constables at the Regional Training Centre of the CISF at Thakkolam in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
