Per Capita Income Growth May Fall To 8.3% To Rs1,11,782 This Fiscal

New Delhi: India's per capita income is likely to witness a slower growth of 8.3 per cent at Rs 1,11,782 in FY 2017-18.

In 2016-17, per capita income of Indians had grown by 9.7 per cent to toRs 1,03,219.

"The per capita net national income during 2017-18 is estimated to be Rs 1,11,782 showing a rise of 8.3 per cent as compared to Rs 1,03,219 during 2016-17 with the growth rate of 9.7 per cent," said First Advance Estimates of National Income, 2017-18' released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Nitish Launches Projects WorthRs 304 Cr In North Bihar

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated and laid foundation stones for nearly 200 projects worth more than Rs 300 crore in this district as part of his state-wide "VikasSamikshaYatra".

The Chief Minister visited Raghopur village, which falls under a block of the same name, in the north Bihar district where he launched 198 projects worth Rs 304 crore before addressing a public meeting.

Among the projects inaugurated by Kumar was a solar-powered mini water supply system involving a modest cost of Rs 36.91 lakh.

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has poked fun at the Modi government over its 'Make in India' initiative, terming the figures of declining investments an update on the "Fake in India programme".

"Guys a quick update on the Fake in India program," he tweeted, using the hashtag "#FakeinIndia" with it.

He also tagged a news report with his tweet that claimed fresh investments in India plunged to a 13-year low as the number of stalled projects rose in the December quarter.

Ready To Respond To Any US Punitive Action, Says Pakistan Army

New Delhi: Even as the Trump administration is set to announce more drastic steps to punish Islamabad for its support to terror groups, the Pakistan army has said the country would respond to any US action in line with the aspirations of the people.

The statement by the military spokesman came in the backdrop of the White House's announcement that the US would announce specific measures against Pakistan in the next 24 to 48 hours after President Donald Trump's stinging New Year tweet.

The US had announced that it is withholding its $255 million military aid to Pakistan.

Assam Police Register FIR Against Mamata For NRC Remarks

New Delhi: The Assam Police has registered an FIR against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on the basis of complaints over her allegation that the Centre was conspiring to drive Bengalis out of Assam with the state's National Register of Citizens (NRC) that is being updated.

The police FIR resulted in a sharp reaction from the TrinamoolCongress(TMC) which said such an action would not stop her from fighting for the cause of the Bengalis while the BJP accused Banerjee of trying to make an "issue out of an non-issue" for reaping political dividends.

The BJP government in Assam condemned Banerjee's statement, saying it was "derogatory, insulting to the people of Assam and against the Constitution as well as the spirit of the Supreme Court."
