Countdown Begins For The Launch Of Cartosat-2 Series Satellite

New Delhi: The 28-hour countdown for the launch of the PSLV C40 rocket is progressing smoothly in the national space station at Sriharikota. The countdown process started this morning at 5.29 hours at its first launch pad. The Indian Space Research Organization will launch “Cartosat-2 Series” satellite meant for earth observation along with 30 other smaller co-passenger satellites into space loaded on PSLV tomorrow morning at 9.28 hours.

Twenty-eight of the 30 small satellites are from six foreign countries including Canada, Finland, France, South Korea, the UK and the USA while the two are from the ISRO. Our correspondent reports, PSLV-C40 has a lift-off mass of 320 tons and all the 31 satellites together weigh 1323 kilograms.

New Delhi: BJP MP ShatrughanSinha has suggested demolition at his housecould be a falloutof the support he extended to the party's veteran leader YashwantSinha's stir for farmers in Satara.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had razed illegal extensions and constructions at 'Ramayana', the eight-storey residential building owned by the actor-politician on Monday.

"People are asking me if I am paying the price for honest politics based on facts, figures & truth & for supporting statesman YashwantSinha's support to Satara farmers. I have no answer," Sinha tweeted.

CPI(M) Not In Favour Of Allowing Foreign Players To Own 49% Stake In AI

New Delhi: The CPI (M) has blamed the government for“moving towards handing over Air India to foreign hands” by allowing airlines from outside the country to own up to 49 per cent stake in the national accuse
 carrier.

In a statement issued after the Cabinet decisions, the party said, "The politburo of the CPI(M)  strongly opposes the decision to allow foreign airlines to invest up to 49 per cent in Air India." 

"Having taken the decision to privatise Air India, the Modi government is now moving towards handing over Air India to a foreign airline."

Cong Snubs BJP-Led Govt For ‘Betraying Farmer’

New Delhi:  The Congress has charged the BJP-led government at the Centre with betraying farmers by not providing them 50 per cent plus minimum support price for their produce.

Congress spokesperson RPN Singh said that before coming to power Prime Minister NarendraModi and the BJP had promised to give farmers 50 per cent plus MSP but is now accuse dithering from doing so, even after four years in power.

He said the BJP had also mentioned this promise in their manifesto for the 2014 LokSabha polls but has gone back on it.

PM Modi Holds Discussions With Economists To Find Ways To Revive Growth

New Delhi: Prime Minister NarendraModi has held elaborate discussions with economists and experts on the state of the economy as the government looks to revive growth which is set to hit a 4-year low.

The meeting with over 40 economists and sectoral experts came weeks before the NDA-government presents its fifth and final full budget that would look to address pain points in the economy and boosting growth to 7-8 per cent.

The interactive session, organised by NITI Aayog, was on the theme, 'Economic Policy - The Road Ahead'.
