New Delhi: The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Monday said, the issues arising out of a press conference by four Supreme Court judges have been resolved and the apex court is functioning normally.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said, they met 15 Supreme Court judges and they all assured that the issues have been amicably resolved.
New Delhi: The 70th Army Day is being celebrated on Monday. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Naval Staff Sunil Lanba and Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa paid tributes at Amar Jawan Jyoti in Delhi on Monday morning on the occasion.
The Army Chief also reviewed the parade at Cariappa Parde Ground in Delhi Cantonment. He presented 15 Sena medals including five of them posthumously.
New Delhi: President Ram NathKovind has said the government and NGOs should project self-employment as a "respectable profession" and also exhorted young Indians to generate employment instead of seeking jobs.
He said it was very important for the country and the society to strengthen "economic democracy" through entrepreneurship.
"People should take up self-employment not due to compulsion but because they choose to. Many programmes, such as the 'Mudra Yojana', 'Startup India' and 'Stand Up India' are helping the youth in empowerment to make them job givers instead of job seekers," he said.
New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has asserted that tourism is one of the best means to promote dialogue as it gives ample opportunity to people to know each other better.
"Tourism promotes interactions at people's level, removes misgivings and creates bonds of amity among various sections of society. That is why every tourist visiting the state is a step towards peace," Mehbooba said while interacting with a group of tourists on the sidelines of a three-day snow festival at the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg.
Mehbooba asked the guests not to get carried away by what they see on TV channels, but come to experience the truth on their own.
New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has snubbed the Modi government over its decision that passport holders requiring emigration check would be given an orange-coloured passport while others will continue to get a blue one, saying it shows the BJP's "discriminatory mindset".
Gandhi also said the move shows that the government was treating India's migrant workers as "second class citizens".
The passport holders with ECR (Emigration Check Required) status would be issued a passport with orange passport jacket and those with non-ECR status would continue to get a blue passport, an MEA statement had said last week.
