High Court To Hearafresh AAP Plea Against MLAs Disqualification

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court will on Wednesday hear fresh petitions filed by 20 AamAadmi Party MLAs challenging the Centre's notification against their disqualification as legislators for holding office of profit. 

The fresh petitions were filed on Tuesday a day after their earlier pleas became infructuous on account of the President giving his assent to the Election Commission's recommendation to disqualify them. The fresh petitions said, the decision to disqualify them was taken in undue haste.

Supreme Court Confirms Release Of Film Padmavat Countrywide

New Delhi: Supreme Court has confirmed the release of disputed film Padmavat countrywide including Rajasthan, in spite of State government's plea not to release this film in Rajasthan. Even after apex court’s decision, a demonstration against the release of this film is still going on across the state. However, Rajput Karni Sena has said that film will not be released in any case in entire Rajasthan.

The president of Shree Rajput Karni Sena Mahipal Singh Makrana said today that government should come up with an ordinance to stop the release of film nationwide. He said if the film is released they have plan to block the roads and call Janta curfew.

Mevani Hits Back At Hegde For His ‘Barking Dogs’ Remark, Exhorts Dalits To Defeat DalitsIn Karnataka

New Delhi: The new Dalit leader and Gujarat MLA JigneshMevani called upon Dalits to defeat the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) in Karnataka as Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde had targeted the Dalit community and referred to its members as "dogs".

In a release, which Mevani has also tweeted, he said, "I call upon the Dalits and other oppressed communities to defeat the BJP, that views Dalits as dogs, in the upcoming election in Karnataka."

Mevani referred his call to defeat the BJP by citing the minister's recent statement against Dalit activists who were staging a protest against his statements in Ballari district by calling them "barking stray dogs".

Justice Chelameswar Affirms Independent And Impartial Judiciary Must For Survival Of Democracy

New Delhi: The senior-most judge of the Supreme Court Justice J Chelameswar, who had, along with three other judges, revolted against the Chief Justice of India on allotment of cases to benches of his preferences, said on Monday that "impartial and independent judiciary is must for survival of liberal democracy". 

Justice Chelameswar whilereleasing a book on the Supreme Court, said that with the constitution conferring enormous jurisdiction on the apex court and the court's eagerness to do complete justice, number of cases being heard in the top court had increased over the years and the court was facing a tough time in providing speedy justice.

Chidambaram Slams Govt For Its 'Muscular Militaristic' Approach In Kashmir

New Delhi: Congress leader P Chidambaram has attacked the government for adopting a "muscular militaristic" approach, saying it was a flawed and misguided policy.

He also came out in support of Jammu and Kashmir governor N N Vohra for saying that the rules of engagement for handling conflicts calls for restraint.

"The fundamental flaw is the belief that a muscular militaristic approach will lead to a solution in Kashmir," he tweeted.

"Governor Vohra is absolutely right when he said that rules of engagement for handling internal conflicts called for 'restraint'."
