Delhi HC transfers AAP MLAs’ pleas to division bench in Office of profit case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday transferred to a division bench the pleas of AamAadmi Party MLAs', seeking quashing of their disqualification from the Delhi Assembly for holding office of profit.

Single-judge bench of Justice VibhuBakhru fixed the matter before the Acting Chief Justice tomorrow, who may either set up new or refer it to an existing division bench.

The court's direction came after the advocate, on whose plea the Election Commission had recommended disqualification of the AAP legislators to which the President gave his nod, moved an application seeking transfer of the matter to a division bench.

Manik Sarkar Accuses BJP Of Serving Interests Of Capitalists

New Delhi: Tripura Chief Minister ManikSarkarhas launched a broadside against BJP, alleging that a party which had played the role of a "collaborator" of the British government before Independence was now at the helm of affairs at the Centre and was "serving the interests" of the capitalists.

"The BJP, RSS and VHP did not launch any movement against the imperialist British government and had always collaborated with them and are now serving the interests of the capitalists in our country and abroad," Sarkar said while addressing a public rally in support of Left Front candidates inMohanpur, about 40 km from Agartala.

The minister of state for Home Affairs stated this after reviewing the passing out parade of 789 CISF woman cadets at their Regional Training Centre at Arakkonam, about 70 km from Chennai.

Congratulating the cadets for their high standard of parade, he urged them to prepare for emerging challenges posed by new forms of terrorism and insurgency.

Sonowal during the meeting apprised Singh about the situation in the state's DimaHasao district where protests against the demand for a "Greater Nagalim" claimed two lives.

The situation in DimaHasao district continued to be tense for a week following protests over an RSS leader's reported statement that the district would be included in "Greater Nagalim" or Greater Nagaland as part of the Centre's proposed solution for the ongoing peace talks with the NSCN- IM.

Kabul On High Alert After Ambulance Bomb Toll Crosses 100

New Delhi: Afghanistan has observed a day of national mourning as the toll for those killed by a huge bomb hidden in an ambulance in Kabul topped 100 people.

At least 103 people were killed and 235 wounded in lunchtime attack claimed by the Taliban, which caused panic in the war-torn capital and overwhelmed its hospitals.

Kabul remained on high alert as the presidential palace declared a national day of mourning for today, with flags flying at half-mast. The attack was one of the worst to strike the capital in recent years.
