Man Gored To Death, 16 Injured At Bull Rampage In TN Jallikattu Event

New Delhi: A 42-year-old man succumbed to injuries he sustained when a bull gored him at a 'Jallikattu' event held on Wednesday and 16 others were injured, police said.

The victim, Paul Raj was rushed to a government hospital but died without responding to medical treatment.

The annual bull taming event, held under the auspices of PunithaSebastiar Church at Pugayilaipatti about 20 km from here, witnessed participation of about 200 bulls, 300 contestants and hundreds of spectators.

Since January 2017, when Jallikattu resumed in Tamil Nadu after Pongal festivities, courtesy a Bill adopted in the state Assembly, approximately 27 deaths -including the one today -- have been reported so far, according to estimates.

Government Says Three Air India Entities Making Profit

New Delhi: As many as three Air India group entities are profitable, with low-cost arm Air India Express earning the maximum profit, according to the government.

The Union Cabinet has approved disinvestment of Air India and the government aims at completing its sale by year-end.

"Two subsidiaries of Air India namely, Air India Express Limited, Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL) and joint venture, namely AISATS, have been making profit," the Minister of State for Civil Aviation JayantSinha said in RajyaSabhain response to a question.

US Air Force Chief Thrashes Out Ways To Deepen Ties With IAF

New Delhi: US Air Force Chief of Staff General David L Goldfeinhas held discussions with top military brass to deepen the relationship between the two air forces through bilateral engagements, according to the US embassy.

In a statement, the embassy said Goldfein's visit to India was part of an Indo-Pacific tour to advance "mil-to-mil" relationships in the region, and enhance and strengthen US alliances and partnerships throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

During his visit last week, Gen. Goldfein held talks with Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa, Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba, Army chief Gen. BipinRawat and Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra.

Yashwant Sinha Says He Wouldn’t Quit BJP, Let The Party Throw Him Out

New Delhi: Even as he continues to target senior party leaders without mincing his words, dissenting BJP leader YashwantSinha has made it clear that he has no intention of quitting the BJP and said that the party can throw him out if it wants.

Sinha said he had been trying for an audience with Prime Minister NarendraModi and had sent numerous letters to him, but failed to elicit a response, something that prompted him to float a political action group called 'RashtraManvh’.

Govt Says 884 Companies Under Scanner In Money Laundering Cases

New Delhi: As many as 884 companies are under the scanner in various money laundering cases and assets worth Rs 5,000 crore have been attached following probes initiated as per the PMLA, according to Union Minister P PChaudhary.

He said that not a single company, however, has been deregistered on the charges of money laundering by the government.

As per the inputs supplied by the Finance Ministry, "884 companies are under investigation in various money laundering cases," the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs said in a written reply to RajyaSabha.
