Centre Calls Two Day Conference To Discuss Farm Distress

New Delhi: The Centre will organise a two-day national conference on February 19-20 to discuss farm distress and find a permanent solution. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the valedictory round on the second day and review the suggestions emerging from the brainstorming.

The conference will be inaugurated by agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh at the Pusa complex. In April, the ministry will call a meeting of state agriculture ministers to discuss, among other issues, strengthening the procurement mechanism. Senior officials of Niti Aayog, farm price advisory body CACP, state universities, farmers and farmers’ bodies will attend the meeting next week.

Nagaland CM Says NPF’s Alliance With BJP Not Over

New Delhi: The 15-year alliance between the ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) and BJP is not over yet, according to Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang. 

NPF has not closed its doors to BJP despite the two parties are fighting the election as rivals, he added.

“The trust between the two parties is still there. I have a minister from BJP (P Paiwang Konyak) who is still a part of my cabinet and an adviser from BJP (TN Lotha) in the rank of a cabinet minister,” Zeliang said after launching NPF’s campaign.

Uma Says Nehru Sought RSS Help InJ-K When Pak Attacked After Independence

New Delhi: Union minister Uma Bharti assertedthat former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had sought RSS assistance when Pakistan attacked Jammu and Kashmir soon after independence and Sangh volunteers had gone there to help.

Her claim comes amid the controversy over RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's reported remarks on the Army.

While speaking to reporters in Bhopal, Bharti refused to make a direct comment on Bhagwat's remarks.

Note Ban Idea Was Given To Modi By RSS Ideologue: Rahul

New Delhi:  Laying blame on RSS for trying to "capture" every institution in the country, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said it was a "particular ideologue" of the SanghParivar outfit who gave the idea of the note ban to the Prime Minister.

"Do you know where the idea of note bandi (note ban) came from? Do you know who gave the idea of note bandi to the Prime Minister of India? It was not RBI, it was not ArunJaitley (Finance Minister), it was not an officer in the Finance Ministry," Gandhi said.

"It was a particular ideologue of the RSS.Now you imagine the RSS places an idea into the Prime Minister's mind and the Prime Minister launches that idea," he said.
