New Delhi: In Tripura, the newly elected MLAs of BJP and its ally IPFT will meet in Agartalaon Tuesdayto elect their legislature party leader.After a historic victory in Tripura Assembly elections, BJP has appointed Union Ministers - NitinGadkari and JualOram - as Central Observers to help facilitate the election of legislature party leader in the state. 

BJP sources said its two central ministers NitinGadkari and JualOram will hold the meeting soon with the newly elected legislators of the party and its ally IPFT to finalize the name of Chief Minister of the new government. 

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir government has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of three persons, who lost their lives in a snow avalanche in Lashkoteforests of Lolab in North Kashmir, according to an official spokesman.

Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation Reconstruction and Floriculture Javaid Mustafa Mir announced the compensation under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for the victims' families, he said.

The bodies of Bashir Ahmed, GhulamMohd Lone, Mohammed Altaf -- all residents of Warnow village, Lolab -- were retrieved from the avalanche area after strenuous efforts by the joint rescue team of Army, Police, Revenue along with the locals.

New Delhi: Nizamabad MP KavithaKalvakuntla has hit back at the BJP for making a mountain out of a molehill over a gaffe made by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao while referring to Prime Minister NarendraModi.

Kavitha came to the defence of her father, a day after her brother and IT minister K T Rama Rao offered an explanation to defenceministerNirmalaSitharaman, who was in the city. The BJP had taken exception to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao using a particular Telugu word that shows disrespect to a person.

New Delhi: The government has described as "defamatory" and "sinister" news report that said the information and broadcasting ministry has withheld funds meant for paying salaries to employees of PrasarBharatiover an alleged stand-off between the two.

The PrasarBharati in an autonomous body that runs Doordarshan and All India Radio but receives grant from the I&B ministry.

"The misinformation is based on ill-will and incorrect appreciation with half-baked facts and is tantamount to causing loss of reputation of the Government in public eyes. It is patently defamatory in nature," the I&B Ministry said in a statement in response to reports in the media.
