India Sends Note-Verbale To Pak On Harassment Of Indian High Commission Officials

New Delhi: India sent a note-verbale to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan on continuing harassment and intimidation of officials and staff members of the High Commission in Islamabad. 

Sources said, India yesterday asked Pakistan to immediately investigate all the incidents and direct the relevant authorities to ensure that such incidents do not recur. 

The sources said, the results of the investigations may kindly be shared with the Indian High Commission.

Mukhtar Ansari Barred From Voting In RS Polls By Allahabad Hc

New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court on Friday barred jailed Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mukhtar Ansari from voting in the Rajya Sabha (RS) elections.

BSP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member, S. Sansitpat, an eminent Supreme Court lawyer, Satish Chand Mishra had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court for the release of two MLAs Mukhtar Ansari of the BSP and Hariom Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), so that they could participate in the voting on March 23.

FIR Against Kanishk Gold For Rs 824 Cr Bank Cheating Case

New Delhi: The CBI has registered a case of loan fraud worth 824 crore rupees committed by Chennai-based Kanishk Gold Pvt Ltd and carried out searches. 

Officials said, the CBI carried out searches at the official and residential premises of promoters of Kanishk Gold Pvt Ltd yesterday as it launched probe in the 824-crore rupees loan fraud case. 

The case has been registered by the CBI on a complaint from the SBI on behalf of the 14-bank consortium. The agency has booked the company Kanishk Gold Pvt Ltd, its promoter Director Bhoopesh Kumar Jain, Directors - Neeta Jain, Tejraj Achha, Ajay Kumar Jain and Sumit Kedia besides unidentified public servants.

BCCI Clears Mohammed Shami Of Corruption Charge, Gives Central Contract

New Delhi: The BCCI on Thursday cleared India speedster Mohammed Shami's central contract after its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) exonerated him of corruption charges levelled by his wife Hasin Jahan. 

Shami has been given a Grade 'B' annual retainership contract, which will fetch him 3 crore rupees. He will also be free to play in the Indian Premier League for his franchise, the Delhi Daredevils, starting 7th of next month.

The BCCI had decided to withhold Shami's contract after his wife made a series of allegations and lodged a police complaint against him.

Government Sets Up Task Force To Draft New Direct Tax Law

New Delhi: Government has constituted a task force to review the Income-tax Act, 1961 and to draft a new Direct Tax Law in consonance with the economic needs of the country. 

Finance Ministry, in a release said, in this endeavour of drafting the new tax law, it is imperative to engage with stakeholders and general public. 

The Ministry has sought suggestions and feedback from stakeholders and general public in the format provided on the departmental website .
