Congress: It is a data leak government, Spying on Indians like Bigg Boss

New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday questioned how safe the people's money and their personal information were under the BJP-led government in the wake of a string of bank frauds and allegations related to data theft.

"It is an attempt like Bigg Boss of spying on Indians. Modiji is attacking the privacy. It is a data leak government," senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.

He said when there is an official government app that seeks information on 15 points, what is the need for having a personal 'Namo aap' which seeks data on 22 indicators.

UP Assembly passes annual budget of 4.2 lakh crore

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Monday passed an annual budget of Rs 4,28,384.52 crore by voice vote, which is 11.4 per cent higher than the last fiscal.
 
The House rejected the cut motion moved by Opposition leader Ram Govind Chaudhary, who in his speech described the budget as anti-poor, anti-youth, and anti-farmer.
 
Chaudhary said the BJP government has scored another first by passing budgets of 98 departments in one go without discussion.

President Kovind to kick off 5 National Highway projects in Varanasi

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Varanasi this morning on a one-day visit to Uttar Pradesh. During his temple city visit, Mr Kovind will lay foundation stone of five projects of the National Highway Authority of India. It includes second phase of outer ring of the city and four-lane roads between Varanasi and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.

Mr Kovind will be welcomed by State Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Varanasi Airport.

Mr Kovind will attend a function organised at Deen Dayal Sankul at weavers facilitation Centre at Bada Lalpur village and distribute appointment letters to the candidates selected during a job fair organised by the Vocational Education and Skill Development department of the state government.

Steve Smith steps down as Rajasthan Royals captain

New Delhi: Australian skipper Steve Smith on Monday relinquished captaincy of Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming 11th edition of Indian Premier League starting 7th of next month. 

India's Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has been named new skipper of Rajasthan Royals. Steve's decision to step down came in the wake of severe backlash he has faced after admitting to ball tampering during the third Test against South Africa. Steve has been given a one-Test ban by the ICC. 

But Cricket Australia is understood to be considering still harsher sanctions.

India is ready to deal with any challenge: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said India is ready to deal with any challenge and will take all measures to maintain its territorial integrity. She said this while interacting with news persons in Dehradun yesterday.

The Minister said India is very much cautious in dealing with Doklam issue. She said, the Centre has taken several new initiatives to modernize all the three defence forces. 

Earlier, Ms. Sitharaman felicitated 140 candidates selected for the Indian Military Academy and the National Defence Academy. She said, the government is always ready to give every assistance to the soldiers and their families. She announced to set up a command hospital with modern facilities in the mountainous region of Uttarakhand.
