Govt Serves Another Notice On Facebook And Cambridge Analytica

in DNDQuick

New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday served another notice to the two companies over the recent data breach after finding “discrepancies” between the earlier responses given by the two companies. The companies have been asked to file their replies to the fresh queries by May 10.The troubles for social media giant Facebook and its tainted British vendor Cambridge Analytica are far from over in India.

Flagging the “cryptic and evasive” reply given by Cambridge Analytica to its first notice, the government sought additional details from the company. “...It is self-evident that apart from being very cryptic, the unstated intention was to conceal more than reveal,”said the latest notice to Cambridge Analytica.

Juna Akhara To Confer Title Of Mahamandaleshwar To A Dalit at Kumbh

in DNDQuick

New Delhi: A 32-year-old dalit sanyasi will be designated as “Mahamandaleshwar”, an influential position in the order, at Kumbh 2019. This is for the first time in the history of the Juna Akhara, considered to be the largest and oldest order of sadhus in India, Kanhaiya Kumar Kashyap was rechristened Kanhaiya Shivanand Giri after his “diksha” ceremony on Tuesday.
This is not the first time a Dalit religious scholar has been given “diksha” by the head of an akhara. Niranjani Akhara had included a Dalit in its higher echelons at the last Kumbh in Ujjain. But Shivanand’s inclusion in Juna Akhara is significant and marks yet another turn in the remarkable life of a man who was denied entry into a Sanskrit seminary because of his caste.
Undeterred, he earned a “Jyotishacharya” degree from Chandigarh-based Bharatiya Jyotish Vigyan Kendra before joining Juna Akhara. Juna Akhara follows the sanyasi tradition and is more inclusive than many akharas on caste issues.
