Yashwant Sinha And Shatrughan Sinha Meet Stalin In Chennai

in DNDQuick

New Delhi:In a very curious move, former Union finance minister YashwantSinhawho had recently resigned from the BJP and the party leader ShatrughanSinha on Friday met DMK Working President MK Stalin in Chennai. The meeting assumes significance as both the leaders have been staunch critics of the Modi government at the Centre.

YashwantSinha had on April 21 said that he has quit the BJP. Soon after YashwantSinha quit, all eyes were on another dissenter ShatrughanSinha. ShatrughanSinha, however, said on the same day that he would stay in the BJP.

Both leaders have irked the BJP several times in the past by meeting some opposition leaders but also praising them. Their meeting with Stalin also comes at a time when frantic meetings are being held to stitch an anti BJP front. Even Telangana Chief Minister K ChandrashekarRao had met Stalin in this regard. What will the Sinha duo do before 2019 LokSabha elections is something that would be closely watched. Will they support these efforts of the regional parties to stitch and anti-BJP front?

The President appears upset by the controversy over 55 winners keeping away from the National Film Awards.

President Ram NathKovind had made it clear when he took office that he would not attend lengthy award ceremonies other than those involving his constitutional duties and this was conveyed to the I&B ministry well before the awards function.

The plan was discussed when I&B secretary N K Sinha called on President Ram NathKovind on May 1 and this made it quite evident that there was no last-hour change that could have sparked off the protests, the source added. RashtrapatiBhavan is understood to have shared its “assessment” with the PMO even as it pointed out that discussions regarding the ceremony were held over the past 6-8 weeks.
