Cop Killed In Terror Attack As Police Vehicle Ambushed

New Delhi:After a five dreaded terrorist neutralized last week,one policeman was killed on Tuesday after terrorists fired at a police vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The incident took place at Pazalpora area in Bijbehara. The policeman was initially injured, succumbed to his injuries later.

On Saturday (May 12), one CRPF personnel was killed in a gun battle between the security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. The terrorists had then managed to escape taking advantage of stone pelting by the locals.

On May 7, one CRPF personnel was injured after terrorists hurled a grenade at TahabChowk in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The grenade was lobbed at police and CRPF personnel who were deployed at TahabChowk to maintain law and order.

Aadhaar Not Mandatory To Get Pension, Says Jitendra Singh

New Delhi:Minister of state for personnel Jitendra Singh has said in 30th meeting of the Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies that Aadhaar card is not mandatory for central government employees to get their pension. He said Aadhaar is an additional facility to enable the use of technology for submission of life certificate without the need for visiting banks.

His assertion assumes significance as there were reports of some retired employees facing difficulty in getting the pension in the absence of Aadhaar linkage with their bank accounts.

The minister clarified that Aadhaar has not been made mandatory for getting pension for government employees, according to the minutes of the meeting.Aadhaar is a 12-digit number, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), that acts as identification and address proof.

Court Reserves Its Order In Herald Case Against Sonia And Rahul

New Delhi: A Delhi court has reserved its order in the ongoing National Herald case in which BJP leader Subramanian Swamy accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and others of allegedly cheating and misappropriating funds.Swamy moved three applications against them in this case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal would pronounce the orders on May 26 on the applications, which have been opposed by the Gandhis and others contending that they were without any merit.

Court Expunges All Remarks, Findings On Sexual Assault Made By Probe Panel Against Chandy

New Delhi:The Kerala High Court observed in the case of OommenChandy being accused of sexual assault charges that charges of sexual assault raised by SarithaNair will not come under the preview of the Justice G Sivarajan Commission probing solar panel scam. It, however, refused to quash the commission’s report altogether as sought by Chandy.

The court expunged all remarks and findings by the commission that probed the multi-crore solar panel scam based on a letter reportedly written by the main accused Saritha Nair alleging sexual harassment against former chief minister OommenChandy.

The state government cannot file any case against the Congress leader after the court’s verdict.Chandy moved the court after the inquiry commission that probed the scam prepared a report treating the letter written by Nair while she was in jail as the main evidence. He contended that the findings of the commission based on her letter were arbitrary in nature and prepared without hearing him.
